The fact that we are sitting here even thinking about an 0-4 start is an incredible indictment on the June Jones era. When we got him from Hawaii it was with the intention of being able to line up against some of the marquee programs in this area and hold our own. 2014 will be the 7th year (hypotethically) of the JJ era and we are trying to dip and dodge our way out of what looks like an amazing OOC slate of games. We get to open at Baylor's awesome new stadium against a team that will likely be ranked highly, an away game against a metroplex area program in UNT which is accesssible to our fans, a home game against SWC rival A&M, and a home game against our most hated rival in TCU.

Play the games. June has had ample time to recruit the players and implement his system. No more backing down. Play who is on the schedule.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Tough to argue with any of this. If we want to be halfway competitive against Baylor and A&M we're going to need to find some JUCO studs ASAP

With that said, we're getting run off the field in both of those games, likely by halftime

Also, A&M will be our first home game. If that is a "White out" game we should all storm Rick Hart's office because it will be such an embarrassment with 20,000 A&M fans in the house

The only problem I have is AT Baylor. We already played AT Baylor. They need to come here. Otherwise, let's play someone else in the preseason like SFA.

I know this is going to come across like I'm sniffing glue, but I think we can actually beat aTm next year (for the few possessions our 2nd/3rd string played their 2nd/3rd string, we dominated). Of course, there was no RSJ on the field and you can't take that as a sign of anything, but it gave me hope (no moneybadger/sumlin and I think we COULD make it competitive).

Sniff, sniff.

I agree with all of this, but you need a few cupcakes, too, especially early on. Look at bball. I'd like to keep TCU and maybe aTm but the rest of the OOC needs to be cupcake city. If we want to play against the best, we need to get into their conferences. To get into their conferences, we need to win games. It's not that I'm "scared" but we need to show we can dominate some people and we ain't going to dominate Baylor/aTm (no one does).

-there is no way in the world that we are going to beat tamu. they will be much better on defense next year.
have you seen their recruiting class?
a player like johnny football comes along no more than every 20 years. impossible to replace but don't think they are without talent. they will be fine. the only difference is that sumlin may not let up on us.
-we are the 1st game for baylor's new stadium because they want to make sure they get a victory. kansas was our first game because we wanted to make sure we had a sell-out. luckily we won also.

They were supposed to come here this year remember?

Ojai just had an FTHP moment. It's okay Ojai, you're forgiven this time.

would be nice to have "The Pony Pub" ready for that one. Let's break some attendace records. Oh and make sure that theyhave to buy a package in order to get that ticket. And let's also make sure that we don't price gouge like we did last time. That cost us a few thousand.
Yeah, we had those special bleachers setup in the south endzone and no one was in them.
yeah, at $90 per seat (of course, this was pre-Manziel being heisman worthy)

We won't be able to charge nearly as much with them playing at JerryWorld the following weekend.

We could definitely set an attendance record with moderately priced tickets, though.

IIRC that is why jj was brought here- to make us competitive with our old conference mates. Today- epic FAIL. look at the results.

Actually, Jones was brought here to get us into a BCS conference and he did that. I cannot blame him for all the changes that have occurred in the conference landscape. What I can do us voice dissatisfaction with the lack of recruiting and results that have left us out in the cold. But fwiw he did accomplish the original goal.

mrydel- so you are saying that he was not expected to make us competitive with our former companions- tcwho, tt, a&m, baylor etc.
Sorry but I disagree- this was also part of the 'bargain' IMO. You can't be BCS if you can't play with the 'big boys'.
