JUCO football recruiting

Postby East Coast Mustang » Fri Nov 22, 2013 11:51 am

Without having this thread derailed into the 1,000th installment of "June Junes sucks at recruiting," are there any JUCO guys we're targeting for this 2014 class? I'm not sure how easy it is for us to get JUCO guys in, I know we've done it before, but it seems like it would be a good way to patch up some of the talent deficiencies we will have next year along the OL with Gottshalk gone and in the secondary with Acker graduating. Are there any guys we're looking at now?

Also, not listed on Rivals, but we have signed one JUCO in this class already: Daniel Halverson (Nate's brother), 6'2 230 ILB.

I thought that Halverson thing wasn't a done deal yet.

JUCO standards went up from 2.0 to 2.5 GPA this year-probably need to wait to see if he can graduate and meet the new standards by December. With the new JUCO standards SMU's standards are almost irrelevant now since we've admitted several scraping the bottom of the old standard. I saw one service recently say he was still in the mix

Or defensive secondary. And I'll go ahead and give myself a plus one.

Need defensive JUCOs across the board but specifically ILBs and corners/safeties. (one big nasty DT would be good too, although I'm really pulling for Hollie). One safety and one ILB would be good - competitive, tough kids ideal.

Would be nice but we're supposedly running out of spots so not sure where all these JUCOs would fit, not that we'd be in the running for a significant amount of difference makers anyway.

Does that include backcounting EEs? Also, any transfers out would open up spots, right?

AJ Justice was making comments on Twitter last week insinuating he might be considering transferring

Transfers would open up spots but this was awhile back and they only mentioned Barns counting for this class but not if any EEs would be backcounted for 2013.
