It should be pointed out that Georgia Southern, McNeese State and Western Kentucky all got their I-A win over Florida International, who was in its first year in I-A.
Ah, vaunted Nicholls State University out of Thibodeaux, LA, dear old Dad's alma mater. Which stellar D-1 foe did they beat?
Well, I was apparently relying on some misinformation. Nichols State and Bethune-Cookman both beat Florida A&M, which was in the process of moving up, but (a) was not there at the time; and (b) is never going to get there now. So that is five of the seven that are pretty suspect.
So, the only "legitimate" victories by a I-AA team over a I-A team are:
Maine over Mississippi State 9-7
New Hampshire over Rutgers 35-24

McNeese State and Nicholls State are in the Southland Conference with Sam Houston State, Southwest Texas State (Texas State University - San Marcos ), Stephen F. Austin State, Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana State.
Div. 1 opponents for Southland Conference teams this year include:
Sam Houston plays Univ. of Houston on Sept. 10 and Texas Tech on Sept. 17.
Texas State plays Texas A&M on Sept. 24 at Kyle Field.
Nicholls State plays Indiana on Sept. 10

"This JV sports update brought to you by Franklin Sports. For when you need mediocre sporting goods at a cheap [deleted] price, choose Franklin!"
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Hey Pony fans. Is 2005 already a bleak outlook that you are looking forward to 2006 already? Some of the comments made by some of you make you sound like the UH bunch to your south.
"Southland Junior Colleges", "JV sports Update"
Keep an eye on the Southland Conf this year. Don't be suprised if we knock UH off. Even though we got a new HC this year, we still have the same OC and the offense has not changed. As a matter of fact, we will probably throw even more.
Two I-AA playoff appearances in the last 4 years, 2004 semi-finalist and 2001 quarterfinalist, finishing ranked #7 2001 and #4 2004 in the nation in I-AA and a preseason ranked #16 for 2005. Better concentrate on this year before looking ahead. It is funny how your own HC Bennett said SMU scheduled Sam Houston & Tx State-San Marcos to get some wins. It could very easily be a Southland sweep.
Good luck this year!
At least you have some levelheaded fans also

If you want to talk about Texas State get it right. Junior Colleges don't offer P.H.D.'s. Texas State has 7 P.H.D.'s and a new engineering school.
We are still playoff eligible on probation because the university turned itself in. Texas State did not get probation from recruiting violations. We received probation due to student athletes profiting off of their books and football extending beyond the allowed practice time.
Laugh it up all you want because we will come to play. Here are the statistics against Baylor last year.

Texas State and Sam Houston will both come to Dallas and give you a game. We scared Baylor last year (if you don't believe it talk to your Baylor brethern-they knew it was a game with Texas State on their end of the field with 1:43 left) and they went on to pummel North Texas and upset Texas A & M after their game with Texas State.
Go Texas State!! Go Cats!!

Wow, you SMU people are delusional. Ya'll actually think that you wouldn't get your butt kicked by any of the 16 Playoff teams in I-AA last year? Get a clue!!! Montana, JMU, Delaware, Sam (as much as I hate to admit it), and probably EWU would murder SMU. I stated in a earlier post aobut how I like SMU, that has now changed. I hope you rich [deleted] never recover from the DP. Come on down to the Southland and see where you finish.

Once again SMU is a target of the wannabes. UNT used to haunt our board as they tried to get parity with anybody outside the Sun Belt. Now the Southland Conference wannabes are carping at SMU because they think they have a chance to beat somebody that used to have a name. The down side of playing these schools is that you having nothing to gain except padding the schedule, and a lot to lose if you are among those very few schools that actually lose to a Div. 1-AA school. I wish we hadn't scheduled these teams.

Might as well play us and other Southland Conf teams, because when the NCAA gets rid of the I-AA nomenclature, we could all be playing in the same conference.

Thanks Jim and Phil-great to hear from the illustrious fans of Sam Houston State Park & Penitentiary and Stephen F. Austin State Monument. Maybe if we fire both we can cancel these games-I'm serious
