I will be surprised if Reed even touches the ball in these 3 games. Junes moves sometimes make zero sense.

My bad. I read you the wrong way, lwjr. Apologies.

Granted again that recruiting has been a real sore spot, but Thompson played tight end in high school and ended up in the tight end position in the NFL. That's not *trying* a guy out -- it's a move that makes perfect sense. A more appropriate response would be to ask why JJ tried him at DE -- a move that I think it's fair to say worked out ok.

so instead of creating about 4 new plays where we utilize a tight end and a blocking back, (a ground breaking idea used by 120 other D-1 schools) - we are going to hand it to a DT to try to power it in 1-2 yes when needed. It might work, but it is the hard way and the stubborn way, when the so called offensive guru could just put in a power set and we could convert third downs and score from the 1 yd line.

You must have better intel than the coaching staff. You might shoot them an email to let them know this is a mistake.

ill do that. If our red zone works, we win 2 more games this year. Fullback (lead blocker) and KC for goal line (TCU 2 yard line)

I'll shoot me an email and ask why it takes 9 games before they try to fix a problem. Isn't our "preseason" for trying experiments like this.

We have a tight end Gaines and a guy that could play FB in Line and a running back that can run Nlemchi.

Also we run the play fake to Line and pass to Gaines play exactly once all tear in the game against Tech and it worked (stupid call). Can anyone tell me why we haven't used it again since then in the red zone or for short yardage?

You've got to think outside the 'box when you've got nothing in your 'box. You've acknowledged poor recruiting is going on...my point wasn't that, it was that I don't feel lucky or fortunate to have a coach who has put himself in a situation where he has to scramble to convert guys in order to fill holes he didn't fill with his recruiting classes. This is "winging" it.

This move just reflects the fact that we have no depth and have no margin for injuries, etc. The coaches are forced to play musical chairs because they didn't recruit talent/size for the affected positions. Reap what you sow.

Cheer the guys on anyway. Go Ponies!

AMEN to this. I have never understood why JJ will not install a blocking back on goal line offense.
