Baylor QB Bryce Petty: No SMU offer?

No Petty was a highly recruited player who kind of got screwed because of timing after he decommitted. QBS commit early and few schools had spots. Funny how things turn out-but then again he might never have played at SMU with Gilbert transferring. Now he has legitimate shot at National Championship and HELL if he plays lights out tonite---a Heisman? Johnny Paycheck is having horrible game and Winston could be IN BIG TROUBLE. I'm pulling for him so we can say June turned down Heisman Trophy winner. The Door is WIDE OPEN for him to make his case tonite

When the coaching change came at Tennessee he wanted to come to SMU but June and Morrison already had Padron and would not offer him. So he took an offer from Baylor.

All things considered, that worked out well for us and Tennessee

Didn't BJ Kinne transfer and play at Tulsa a few years ago ... not Baylor. Plus, wasn't his dad the HS school that was shot by one of his players .... or am I totally confusing this with something/someone else?

GJ Kinne. Yes, his dad was shot by one of his players' parents. Kinne went to Texas then transferred to Tulsa. Kinne's father was an assistant coach with Baylor shortly after the shooting until Guy Morriss got fired.

He is not that good. Briles is just a heck of a coach putting playmakers around the qb and now he is getting the lineman to protect the last few years.

If anything he's underrated, I wonder what his numbers would have been if he hadn't been yanked early from so many games.

Pretty good shot for a Baylor v Texas A&M Cotton Bowl this year. Baylor-hopefully healthy by then and playing in-doors against Aggy Secondary. Manziel's last game. I'd like to see that.

No disrespect to Petty or the wise ones on the board, but wasn't Petty on some bad to mediocre Middleothian teams? And wasn't it his size that intrigued some D1 coaches with the potential aspect more so than the actual performance in high school? You get a guy a certain size in high school and he will get the offers even if he is 2nd team all district in high school....look no further than Ashwan Robinson from Arlington Heights who is playing significant time for Alabama as a fresh but only 2nd team all dist in a weak 4A dist. Same with Kapron Lewis Moore from Weatherford and a captain and 3 year starter for Notre Dame.
