To be fair, SMU has a few of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Skilling

He was actually both definitions of a CEO

Can't believe our MBA ranking is so low. It use to be in the 10-20 range. Ugh, changes need to be made.

In a nutshell, we should all remember things like this when we're convinced RGT wants to destroy athletics. He runs a University, not an Athletic Department. Off the top of my head, he has to worry about: 1) A business school that has faltered somewhat; 2) A law school at serious risk of declining in rankings and sliding into Tier 2 and behind Houston; 3) Insanely high cost of tuition (even w/ scholarships the actual number is high) in a climate where a there's a serious question of return on investment for a college education

No doubt I'm not even saying its RGT's fault. I think we should be looking to get rid of Niemi. He's a nice guy but I think he's gotten complacent in his position over the years he's been there. Also I like to see the provost removed, and put someone who has more experience in a provost position.

It's good we got rid of the law school dean- the fact our law school is now tied with Baylor and UH is laughable and occurred on his watch

I agree; I just meant, all of us, collectively, should remember that it's a University. It has a lot of moving parts. I'm sure Gerry doesn't go to bed every night thinking about whether June hired capable assistant coaches who know how to recruit.

Then maybe he should resign from the outside boards he sits on and give up his position with the AAC. Then he'd have more time to concentrate on SMU matters. We need to steal Stanford's president and let Turner go.

If you look at the TV contracts & size of athletic facilities, college athletics is a business

Why would we not want Gerald Turner on various business and civic boards-that's exactly how we build relationships and connections with the Dallas community. Gerald's business "recruiting" is pretty damn good. I bet his relationships with the Dallas business community are 10 times stronger than June's with the Dallas coaching community. Gerald Turner Ace Recruiter.

I don't think so-no I know so-SMU would not be even in Houston-I'm seeing no line likely because of Gilbert's injury. You have "Low Football IQ" or what the great SMU observer Alumni11 calls "smarts"
