A disappointing win is still better than a loss. How many times in the past 25 years would we be looking for some sort of moral victory after losing this game. Now we are complaining that we won ugly.

I'm glad our expectations have changed. Ironically, these higher expectations make the bad losses even harder to deal with. When I was at SMU in the early '90s, I wouldn't have thought twice about our Tulane loss last year. Now, it really gets under my skin.

Taking a bigger picture look at the USF game. I feel bad for GG, it is a tough break for him. Hopefully he will OK and be back soon (like next Friday soon). The positive side of his injury is that Burcham got a lot of quality minutes. While I don't want to see anyone injured, it is important for the program in the long run to have Burcham ready to play and comfortable with the speed of the game. That can only be accomplished by getting game minutes. Hopefully this will help him grow and develope as a player and leader through the rest of this year and into the offseason.

this entire conference has become about wining ugly and this game had plenty of ugly, but there were bright spots and the bottom line for me is that I wasn't disappointed at all. In fact, that's the 1st road game I've seen the Mustangs win since I moved away from Dallas the year we got the death penalty. Met Jay Scott's Dad before the game and we talked about how highly touted Jay was coming into this season...but how things haven't gone as well as they had hoped this season. Was great to see him get those 2 picks...and I thought he could have had a 3rd.

USF had some speed in their secondary and they close pretty quickly on guys. I thought Burcham did fine for being thrown in the way he was. He was a little late on some out patterns and barely avoided what I thought was going to be a pick 6, but I was impressed that he was able to engineer 2 TD drives (aided by some timely penalties against USF, but I give Burcham credit for scrambling and frustrating the DL leading to the roughing calls)

That was the single ugliest games I ever remember seeing. Not SMU's fault -- just one of those things. Very much USF's fault. Painful to watch.

Did anyone at all notice that Cincy, a team we lost by 3 points to, beat Houston by a TD? I don't feel so bad coming into this Houston game...Burcham will be ready and beat Coogie High

Our defense did not give up any points.
We went 3 quarters without giving up any points.
Then our special teams gives up a "gift" touchdown.

I know USF is no powerhouse but ... let's focus on the fantastic defensive effort.

Let's beat up Coug High and earn another trip to the Hawaii Bowl.
