SMU1523,

It was me who asked for the LeVias retro, I am glad I did. I also just went back and read your post rather than simply looking at the pics. Everyone should do so. You absolutely 'Get It'.

Just curious SMU1523, what your thoughts were on the black jerseys for the Armed Forces Bowl and our retro uniforms this year. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give SMU a 2.

If you half-a$$ the black uniforms by only doing the jerseys, simply pass on it. Retro uniforms this year at game nobody attends, what's the point? Plus the jersey stripes ruined the helmets.

I simply don't understand what's so complicated here. I do question the competency of those making the decisions, I know that.

You on the other hand, SMU1523. You SHOULD be placed in charge.

EVERY YEAR, some kid should run out onto Ford field proudly wearing #23 in your retro uniform. Jerry LeVias should be on the field to greet him. They should run across the field together with the rest of the team behind them. We probably could get Hayden Fry involved as well. That is a tradition we could all be proud of.

I understand Hayden's health is not good at this time.

SMU1523:

I totally agree with you on all points. How cool would be to show the team Pony Express highlights the night befor the game and then have them don that jersey the next day? Or the receivers Jerry LeVias highlights and wearing those? Our players have no connection to those teams in our current jerseys. We dominated in the days of Doak. Give these kids that feeling if connection to our dominant past. Plus, I think we'd actually be seen as innovative if we brought out the khaki pants. The NFL has a lot of success with its retro jersey sales....I think if we did it, it would be surprising and you'd soon see schools like USC, Ohio State and Michigan follow suit with a retro throwback too.

Why we don't use LeVias as an olive branch to S. Dallas is beyond me.

Excellent! I love either of the 2 Blues and the Doak Red. How I wish this could get through to the powers that be!
Your post about tradition and recognition is right on!

Excellent job on the uniforms. Now where can I find a list of equipment managers, marketers, etc? They are all getting these mockup a flooding their inboxes.

I've never commented on a uniform thread before other than to make fun of people. But this is really solid stuff. We need to have the pony express unis as our standard and roll out a Doak uniform and a Levias uniform one game each per year. Very classy stuff. I want this done.

Man, I love every mockup you have done for the last couple of years.
I've been using them as screen savers.
Keep sending them to powers that be. If we get any of these, I am very happy, multiples and I am ecstatic!

These are all just so outstanding. 1523, you really do kill it. Just outstanding stuff. You deserve a job in the SMU Athletic Marketing Department.

If someone has a list of emails of people I can annoyingly send these mockups to every day until they make them, please share.

SMU1523, do you have a LeVias-era only pic that you can post?

I like the uniforms. Why would you wish this fate on him?? Talk about a dead-end job.

The three on the left are by far the best. I have to agree that it is the simplicity of the design. They are just classic understated. As much as I like the white helmets with the stripes and red mustang, I dont think it would go well with the two #37 jerseys...too busy, but might go with the #23 jersey even though it would mess up the throwback angle of it. These three would be a perfect set. White for road games of course, blue when the opponent is red and red for all other games. Are you paying attention SID?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
