Can't see SMU beating UH in Houston with no GG. UH is going to be looking for revenge. UCF will have a lot to play for.
Thanks! I don't think anyone on this site realized who our opponents were. Who did we play in non-conference? What conference are we in? Who is our coach? What is our mascot? What is the website for our athletic department?

I doubt it. At least that's the way ReedFrawg made it seem.

That just speaks to how awful our conference really is. This terrifies me for next year.

Next year, the conference will be just like CUSA...we just moved laterally in the conference world. Next year's American Athletic Conference will be just another midmajor along with MAC, CUSA, MWC, Sunbelt. Conference can dream on if they think they will get a Grant of Rights close to a P5 conference's magnitude... Teams include: 1) Houston (local TV market dominated by Big 12, SEC. Major NFL Market) 2) UCF (Orlando dominated by the ACC,SEC) 3) ECU (The Carolinas are SEC country) 4) Tulsa (Big 12) 5) Memphis (SEC) 6) SMU (Dallas TV market controlled by Big 12, mostly by Texas and OU. TTU and aTm have lots of alums. TCU becoming a new force. Major NFL Market.) 7) Navy (...) Tulane (Geaux Tigers SEC land) 9) Temple (Penn State, NFL market) 10) UConn (NYC market dominated by NFL) 11) USF (same as UCF) All competing with P5 conferences for their local TV markets. The conference is awful...we should be able to come out on top kinda like TCU dominated the MWC, and if we don't, we should start preparing our move to the FCS...

that was his best post ever on ponyfans except for his Retirement thread. He must of read one of my earlier posts when I pointed out all AAC are secondary market programs and therefore would not command the large TV rights fans were expecting. His post is not delusional at all.

Thanks man. But what can you expect from a Coog High troll? Hopefully he will slowly disappear after this week...

I think we have a shot. Spread is in the same ballpark as k state game. We have a much better shot after the loss to OSu

Wacky year for SMU fball. On the one hand, our only 2 losses against conference foes were a triple OT loss (that now looks bad bc Rutgers has sucked since) and a 3 point loss on the road against a good team where we missed 2 "gimme" field goals. I always thought that this Houston game would really be our super bowl. It's tough, though, given that our MVP (by far) is out. So it's sort of like fighting with one hand behind your back. With GG, I liked our chances. Without him, it's a really really long shot. I think Farrow will have a field day and they will throw all over us. Our D will get worn down bc our O won't be able to sustain long drives and score TDs. Same song and dance.

You do realize that I've been here for over a year and that's not counting the 2011 season when I was only a mere lurker, before I became Cougar King.

Somehow, I have the feeling you were more than just a mere lurker
