Re: SMU/UH Roll Call
Anybody else going to try and make the drive from Reliant to Corpus for the Friday game? I have a fast car, but they implemented speed limits I heard. Still, I'm going for it. If we are blowing out UH in the 4th it will be easier!
Re: SMU/UH Roll Call
CA Mustang posted it, but I confirm I will be in attendance.

Re: SMU/UH Roll Call
I will be at the game. I will bring my 88 year old Uncle that graduated from SMU in '48 that lives in Houston. He's my Dad's older brother and he attends an SMU game in Houston every year - whether it was either Rice or UH in the past. He and my Aunt had Astros season tickets and they went to every game for over 25 years...Maybe that's where I get it (going to the Mustang games). My Aunt passed away last year.... Oh, did I say that my Uncle owns his own CPA firm in Houston and goes to work everyday?!!! I'm proud of my Uncle and he's proud of his Mustangs.

Can be done. But, leave the UH game as soon as possible. Reliant Stadium paneling lot is likely to be your biggest backup.smusic 00 wrote:Anybody else going to try and make the drive from Reliant to Corpus for the Friday game? Be aware of speed traps. Everything between Rosenberg and Wharton is a speed trap. El Campo is usually a speed trap. South of Victoria between Fox Road and the Exxon station (you'll see it on the right) is a speed trap. Do not speed through any of the other small towns, either: they live for holiday weekends and weekends where people are driving to watch their high school football team in the playoffs - speeding tickets this weekend will make their year.
Stop at Prasek's in Hillje rather than Buc'ees just before. Not as nice, much worse restrooms, but all the food they have is just better. Get a snack. You'll want one.
When you get to Sinton, get off 77 and go 181 towards Taft and Portland. Following that will take you right by the arena. Just go over the Harbor Bridge and then exit left at the bottom, turn left at Shoreline, and you'll drive straight there. Much faster than taking 77 through Odem and Calallen and then taking 37 - that takes you out of the way.

Yes to all that, particularly the route between Portland and Sinton. Got my first speeding ticket outside Palacios on old Highway 35.CalallenStang wrote:smusic 00 wrote:Be aware of speed traps. Another tip: Park in the train lot outside the 610 Loop and ride the train the short distance to Reliant. Easier to get in and out that way

Great opportunity to show out this weekend with games on national TV against quality opponents (fball and bball). THIS is the opportunity and we have to seize it! (on the field and on the court). We win these type of games and the marketing gets easier. We lose and it's just another bust for lowly SMU. Gotta seize the moments! Will we? I don't know, but I'll be watching and rooting my [deleted] off!!

Thanks Calallen and Rayburn. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Reliant so I'll just walk from there. Good driving tips appreciated much. I'll probably miss the early part of the game.
