Fog of War

Postby JasonB » Fri Nov 29, 2013 3:26 pm

I don't care whether we tackle in practice or not, but we have got to find a better way of simulating game conditions in practice. We have too many players, Burcham included, who have the athletic ability to succeed and look great in practice, but don't put things together on gameday.

Our higher rated, gifted redshirt QB looked a lot worse today than how many true freshman QBs we have played this season?

That particular issue is not a recruiting problem, it is a game prep problem.

Maybe they look good in practice because they are going against lesser talented players. Our recruiting has dropped of and we may not have the athletic ability to succeed as much as the JJ recruiting supporters believe. I think we are seeing the results of the bad recruiting catching up to us. GG was just kind of a shield that made it look like it was not as bad as it was. When the shield was taken away then we truly see what we have. We do have a lot of team speed either.

Rebel, I would agree with you except for the fact that in this game, we had open receivers all over the place. If nobody could get open, I would agree that we were dominated everywhere. In this case, however, we had a QB who couldn't translate the decisions he makes every single day in practice to a game.

Wr's were not that open. And I am not just talking about a drop in talent and speed at wr. We have a mediocre level of talent and speed in general across the board. The next recruiting class does not look very good. A lot of decent seniors are graduating too.
