Pope looked good at RB

Postby Rebel10 » Fri Nov 29, 2013 4:03 pm

If he switches to RB I think he could get some looks in the pros (kind of like Taylor Thompson) although he may still get some looks as an LB.

not to take anything away from Pope because he played a great game today...but keep in mind this was Houston we were playing. Not exactly a big boy defense. We would not have even moved the ball against most SEC teams

Since when do we play SEC? He looked better than Line. Too bad we had a 4th/5th string RB today and we couldnt get a running game all yr long. Zach saved many games.

my comment was in the contest of Pope being looked at as a RB by NFL teams

We recruited Pope as a RB and June moved him to LB after his freshman season

It all comes full circle...Pope, recruited as a RB, is moved to LB, then June collects half a dozen other RBs that are all one-dimensional, and don't pan out (to date) for various reasons, and Pope is forced to shift back to RB 11 games into the season.

Did a great job running down the fumble return.

I thought both PLine and Pope did a good job.
Second, we had a great RB when Pope was recruited; Zach Line. Putting Pope, a good football player, at a position where he had no hope of playing is a waste of talent.

He needs to start this week in front of Line. He is a bruising runner that is faster than Line.

I agree. Start Pope. Runs much faster and harder that Line.
Long live Inez Perez!
