Recruitng is starting to show

GG was masking what seems to be a team that is not as talented as some thought. We barely beat Montana State and were down to Temple by more than 1 touchdown in the second half. We had to come back on both games to win. GG had to do heroic things for SMU to win those games. Burcham looks okay but without a QB that can do almost superhuman things it looks like we could have a rough year next year due to poor recruiting.

Rough next year? I think it's going to be rough for the next 10 years.

Yeah it's been showing for awhile now (see our performances versus Texas P5 teams) but you're right about next year being rough sans a superhuman QB.

And I think Burcham will have a good year next year but will not have the surrounding help he needs imo.

Depends on what you mean by a good year. OOC will be a nightmare for him (likely 0-4 start) and conference play isn't likely to be much better.

It should not show this much with a coach in the 6th year with less restrictions than any since the DP. GG provided smoke and mirrors on the true situation which showed itself today.

It's not just starting to show. In 6 years our pass happy coach has yet to recruit a WR who could compete with Bennett's guys.

Next year could be brutal. I'm thinking the defence in particular will likely be atrocious.
