They have not kept up with recruiting within their conference, in fact they are always at least the 5th choice within the Big 12 (after UT, OU, OSU and Baylor - and thats after A&M takes who they want).
Also - their crowds grew with the excitement of the stadium - and if they put a couple of more bad season on the board it will drop like a rock, regardless of the fact they have no competition in Ft Worth
The reason there is so much bad blood between Baylor and TCU is that Baylor is winning most of the recruiting battles - and is taking the spot that TCU thought they would have.
Than you have SMU and UT that are heads and tails above them academically - and SMU crushing them in basketball - and i could see it being no fun over there for the next few years.
Seriously - who are they going to replace? UT? OSU? OU? Baylor with Briles? They are going to be fighting it out to be the best of the bottom half for the next 5 years.
Is their football team heads and tails above us - for sure. Does that matter to either of us right now - only for one game a season.
Someone with some fire could put us in the mix - and we would be dominating a weak conference and making more waves. Someone in our administration just needs to have some guts.
Being in the middle of the pack in an elite conference is not bad for their 2nd year. I think TCU has better facilities than most of the Big 12 and they are arguably in the best location (DFW metro) than any program (Austin is nice, but DFW is awesome, Lubbock is horrible, Norman just sucks, and don't even get me started on Stillwater or Waco haha) which is why I don't understand their recruiting not being higher than it is. If SMU was in Big 12, I would expect SMU/TCU along with UT/OU to get dibs on the best players. I agree with their crowds decreasing with increased losing seasons. That is the curse of being a small private school with 8k undergrads like SMU. But I do think they will have a much better year in 2014.

THIS The guy is a piece of [Gary Patterson] as a person, but he is probably one of the best coaches/if not best coach in Texas at this point. TCU and Fort Worth love that guy almost at a mini Bear Bryant or Joe Paterno level

Are you going to stop being rude and apologize? I thought the point of being in this forum was to connect fans and help build new fans (which is the program's biggest problem).

No, I'm just going to keep pointing out how wrong you are, as exhausting as it may be.

Patterson is right on this one. Dixon has been doing this all year and apparently his coaches are all right with it or he would have stopped before now. There's a fine line between hard nosed and dirty. He and several of his teammates have crossed that line many times this season.

What do you mean, they sweated them out THIS year. Look at the four teams they beat: Southeast Louisiana, SMU, Kansas and Iowa State. Now that is a program on the rise, and they are actually trying to win which is more than we can say.

He nailed Sterling Shepard from Oklahoma too, and knocked him out of that rest of that game and the next game.

Wrong in your eyes perhaps. I would expect people like you to be in a SEC, Pac 12 forum...but not in a school which needs every fan it can get. Move over and let others learn and grow.

True, I think they're going to be the Vanderbilt of the Big 12 going forward- schedule three patsies OOC (unfortunately we qualify right now) and hope they can scrounge out three other conference wins vs. Iowa State, Kansas, KSU, WVU, etc. and get bowl eligible. Texas is about to be back in a big way with a new coach, Stoops will always have OU in contention, OSU isn't going anyhwere, and neither is Briles at BU. I also think Kingsbury is going to kill at it Tech in the long term

I have a question for some of the older fans. When was the last time SMU had a coach that was passionate about SMU? GP is way over the edge for me, it will eventually lead to his downfall, but he loves TCU. Meyer had a big personality, but took off at the first opportunity. When was the last time we had a coach that was half as devoted to us as the steaming pile is to TCU? My impression of the coaches since the DP have been more or less corporate types. This is their job and they try to do it well, even with the admin handicaps. They didn't love SMU. When was the last time we had that?

I told you nicely that you should just shut up for awhile and learn the boards for awhile before posting, so you might learn something, since you obviously know so little about college football right now. But you didn't take my advice and continue to make an [deleted] of yourself by saying idiotic things

Have we ever thought about hiring someone from within? From SMU, and not from other programs?

This is the same type of crap you criticize about our team...you get better with playing time on real games, not watching overhead projectors and practicing flag football.
