Coker on Sports Sunday Ch. 4 tonight talking about UTSA's year and he likes being in Texas to recruit with all the good Texas high school programs, then tells the local sports anchor "recruiting is everything, in fact I'm on plane tomorrow at 6 am" to recruit.
I'm not advocating Coker, firing June, etc as that is for others to decide. But this is what we need from our program to be successful going forward. Emphasis on recruiting best kids we can get...

This post needs to be a sticky - I'd love to come back to it shoud UTSA have a breakout year. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any cfb program and Coker gets it.
I actually think with the right staff - Coker would be a good move for us. Not sexy. But solid. I'd love to see SMU build a program through winning some recruiting battles with the big boys whle establishing ourselves as the best non-P5 program in the state.

Coker and Fran...two guys we could have hired in 2008 for far less than we paid June.
Add in the fact that Cutcliffe (another guy we could have hired) is taking Duke to the ACC championship game, and it's clear just how awesome it is to be an SMU fan these days.

I would love to have Larry Coker. Preferably several years ago, but he just seems to get it.

Bump his base salary to 750K with incentives that could make it as much as 1.25M.
