Re: SMU Ranked #45Arkansas #23, UVA #37
Re: SMU Ranked #45So we'd go to the Tourney if the season ended today.
Re: SMU Ranked #45First time we have had an RPI rating in forever.
Re: SMU Ranked #45of course it is too low. but we will work it up a bit soon.

Re: SMU Ranked #45
actually we had a shockingly high RPI in the early season during one of Doherty's years...and it had as much to do with who we were losing than our beating everyone on the schedule. I remember thinking this system is a joke. I want to say we were top 10. Maybe somebody else will remember the details
Re: SMU Ranked #45
I am so confused by this comment. Every single team has an RPI rating.
Re: SMU Ranked #45RPI means squat right now.
Re: SMU Ranked #45Of course it fluctuates wildly daily and is no direct correlation to AP ranking, etc, but I was just trying to find something that showed A ranking for us when I saw that UVA was ranked #27 (I was thinking we are probably a top 50 team right now and then I found this so it seemed about right to me). Way too early in the season to make any kind of judgment ultimately but I thought I'd share something somewhat positive. We'll see how good we really are once we get into conference play and hope we run the table between now and then. Honestly, I see us at about 17 total wins this year (possibly up to 8 conference wins, which would give us more than 17 total wins) and that could be enough to get us into the NIT.

Re: SMU Ranked #45
Not necessarily as you would have to take out the auto bids for lower ranked teams leaving fewer at large bids.
Re: SMU Ranked #45Not sure why this site has a different RPI than the other site, the formula is straightforward math, but regardless it is pretty close.
This site also shows a projection of where teams will end up, groups by conference, etc. I think it is pretty fun to mess around with. One of the interesting things to me is that on each team's page it shows a list of all of the teams that impact the team's RPI (both currently and in the future). Amazing how many teams' performances impact each team's RPI since it factors in opponents' opponents' records. Go High Point! (except when they play Arkansas since Arkansas impacts us a lot more) http://www.rpiforecast.com/confs/Amer.html
Re: SMU Ranked #45
Actually, we were somehow number 1 in RPI for like the first 5 games last year. BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: SMU Ranked #45
That is right. I had forgotten, but that is why I had first found that website.
