Cutcliffe turned down Tennessee to stay at Duke when Kiffin left. I don't think he's going anywhere

USC job > A&m job :

1) stronger national appeal and national fanbase
2) better history with more national championships
3) LA/southern call vs. Cow country
4) Much better academic school (if he cares about that)

HO HUM!

We just signed LANE KIFFIN REDUX!

Those two backstabbers (LK and SS) got Norm Chow canned as OC after winining two NC's in a row and then proceeded to lose the 3rd NC to Texas due to their utter FAIL!

As for Ed O try and remeber that he lost to both NOTRE DAME and UCLA in the same year!

UNFORGIVABLE!

Plus Ed O has too much of the Charlie Weiss about him! Pat Haden wasn't going to get effed like Charlie Did to ND!

Sad Day for my Trojans!

SC had cooled off on Sumlin. The timing of the hire, less than a week after Washington's regular season ends would indicate Sark has been near the top of their list. SC is kind of like a cult so having somebody in the Trojan "family" is important to them, hence why Franklin was never a serious option.

Sark has done a solid if not great job at Washington. They were 0-12 the year before he arrived and he is a young, dynamic recruiter. He will most liking bring Tosh and Wilcox from his staff at Washington who are also excellent recruiters.

Solid hire, but not a wow hire. But then again, USC has never had a wow hire. John Robinson, Ted Tolliner, Paul Hackett, Pete Carroll.

I am proud to say that I predicted this right after the Kiffen firing due to some "inside" information I got. I am too lazy to go back and resurrect the post. I was poo-pooed when I mentioned it. Now everyone must bow before me for finally getting a prediction right!!

From what I've heard, USC started to sour on Sumlin for some reason.

SC people don't like Sumlin's defenses at UH or A&M and don't think he can get them over the hump.

Interesting that ESPN is reporting Petersen withdrew his name from consideration. I wonder if he knew he wasn't at the top of the list and either has something else in mind (SMU obviously) or if he prefers stability outside of the spotlight.

I hope it was because he knew he wasn't getting the job. If not that, then SMU is definitely out as well.
