Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?@blackoutpony and @hoopmanx and @Harry0569
You guys are obviously seasoned vets on ponyfans.com and in your mind your opinions are far superior to everyone else's opinions. You guys have a strange way of welcoming a newcomer to ponyfans.com I would not call it hazing. I don't know what I would call it. I am a newcomer to ponyfans.com. I am a proud graduate of SMU and loyal follower of almost all things SMU. You are right. You don't know me as a poster. You don't even know me as a person. Even more reason for you not to jump to conclusions about me. First you thought I was someone else. Next you tell me to use google to look up stats before making posts. Then you tell me that my posts are too long. Then you tell me my posts do not have substance. Then you told me to put all my posts under one thread. Now you are telling me that I need to learn how to crawl before I walk? I have never asked for your guidance. You do you. I'll do me. Give me a break. How ridiculous. I have no idea what your motivations are, but if that really makes you feel better about yourself keep it coming. Your opinions of my posts don't get me up in the morning. I am not looking for acceptance from you. As we all know respect is earned and you do not have mine (as I am sure I do not have yours). So be it. I am not even looking for your respect. I am just making posts for "discussion and entertainment purposes". If you don't have anything of value to add, if you do not like my posts, that is ok, please ignore my posts. I don't need to hear how much you don't like me as a person or how much you don't like my writing style. Try something new. If you have an opinion on whatever topic that is presented on the message boards please post your opinion I sincerely would like to read it. Isn't that the way a public fan message board is suppose to work? We don't have to agree on everything and we do not need to be best of friends or go and grab a beer together after work. Think about it. Why should I post anything on ponyfans.com if all you are going to do is criticize and critique each and every post that I make? I am ok with "constructive criticism" anytime, but you and I both know your comments are getting a little ridiculous. Makes sense to me if you share your opinion on the topic of the post. No need to make your opinion personal. I thought we are all on ponyfans.com because we shared a common interest in supporting SMU Athletics. Maybe I am in the wrong place? Here's to hoping that I am not. Pony Up! Last edited by StandUp on Tue Dec 03, 2013 2:33 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?Oh good, FTHP made a separate account for the basketball forum

Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?FWIW, I am not FTHP, I do not know FTHP, and am not posing as anyone other than myself. I have unfortunately had to explain this on another thread already. Not sure why this is such a popular topic. What is it about my posts that raises so much pessimism by the ponyfans.com faithful?

Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?I love your enthusiasm but don't force it, let the game come to you...and this probably isn't a good place to seek any kind of affirmation
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?Message boards by design bring out the worst in people. Nobody feels the need to vent happy thoughts. Accept it for what it is or I would suggest you seek your joy elsewhere.
Pony up!
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?By no means was I hating. I welcome all new PonyFans with open arms.
I simply asked you to compile all of your polls/threads into one bigger thread, so that it is easier for people to contribute in one, concise place. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."

Yeah "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?I've been on this board for six years and I still get no respect, but it's nice to come to a place where there are people who share your love of the Ponies. Think of it like a bar where discussions can sometimes get a little heated, occasionally get out of hand, and once in a while a patron gets tossed through the plate glass window Matt Dillon style.
Here's what I've learned: 1. HoopmanX is the final authority on all things basketball. 2. If you think Liberty and Justice were a good idea, keep it to yourself. 3. Don't quote or link to Bleacher Report.
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?Standup, not saying there is anything to this but is it kind of odd that you and Feethehorsepower both made posts at around 1:30am.

Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?
Funny and accurate. Though it is pretty funny what the "final authority" on the football board goes toe to tie with the final authority in hoops. Standup. Keep posting. My only suggestion is to have a thick skin. Especially if you post a lot or start topics. But a good rule if thumb is the Bill Oreilly rule, Keep It Pithy. I am not an Oreilly watcher, but that is a great rule if thumb for all speakers and writers i e RGV packs a lot punch in one sentence posts. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: Newcomer to PonyFans.com - Am I in the Wrong Place?I made it through about two sentences and gave up. No one wants to read self serving novellas here. I like the bar analogy.
