I think there's a better chance that you have more than double that in young alumni than actually getting 200 or 300 current students unfortunately....

Yeah its just not realistic. Over 50% of us now are from out of state. Here's how the conversation goes: "Mom, I need to go back to Dallas early to watch a basketball game, and I know I haven't seen the family in like 6 months, but the game is just really important to building our basketball program so I have to go." Every mom in the world says "absolutely not, you are not leaving your family to watch a stupid basketball game, you spent the whole Christmas break watching SMU on tv anyways".

It'd be great if a few of the MOB members would organize an effort to pass out flyers to classes the week before the break. Also, have a student viewing of the new Moody like they are having for the Mustang Club. If you get students in the building it will create excitement. And LB has already done plenty but it would be great if he stopped by frat/sororities again to ask them to come to the opener. Just thoughts
I agree that the school should be encouraging students to come back for 1/4/14 consistently and often, but if you are a student and you still don't know what that date means then you don't deserve to be there. Every email/instagram/twitter,etc I see has 1/4/14- The Magic Returns. SMU has been advertising it for about 5 months. Regardless, I think it will be absolutely packed. It's just a matter if the blue hairs get out of their seats to make it loud.

I got asked yesterday if Moody was going to be ready for next season. Imagine their surprise when I told them it would be open in a month

haha wow. That is what really pissed me off when I was a student. The stupidity and lack of sports knowledge killed me. I couldn't wait to get away from it.

Also, if they have trouble filling student sections for the UCONN game, why not bring the Young Alumni section down there. My crew and I will be liquored up and probably louder than any student section. Wouldn't mind sitting down there either

as a young alum, I was allowed to sit in the student section during the holiday/semester break games...but doubt that would have happened if I had come in liquored up. Security always wanted to know we would "behave" because there were some SMU co-eds sitting down there

Oh thank goodness! Because once you're a 24 year old working professional, you just suddenly become a raunchy perv, unlike those gentlemanly undergraduates who would never do or say wrong.

All topics were about the exciting things going on in the program from the unbelievable facilities, to nationally competitive recruiting and to success on the Court. Most important news is that he loves this job and without prompt he makes clear he wants to stay here for a long time. He ain't going anywhere soon. This weas a great, positive interview for the perception of the SMU program
Thanks for sharing the information about what LB said...good stuff!
