DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionReport says he is being extended 2 years with the last year having no buyout.
Disappointing but not surprising. It is hard for SMU with its funding to fire JJ with a year remaining and eat $2 million Pony 81

Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionSweet sweet baby Ahura Mazda it is true.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/headlines/20131204-smu-coach-june-jones-says-he-has-contract-extension-offer-in-hand-will-probably-sign-it-after-season.ece Not too worried. He will "probably sign it" he says. Clearly setting the stage for June's "retirement" after the UCF game as arranged over a year ago. Everyone saves face. Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensioneff you see kay
Why even publicize this? It's transparent to everyone- recruits, parents, competing coaches, etc. that he's out sooner rather than later. Our recruiting will only get worse 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient

What do you mean? If he's back next year, it's a disaster 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionJune - do the right thing. Do not sign it. Go coach Hawaii or focus on your movie. Kevin Costner would play a better SMU coach than you.
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionI believe a quiet period starts next Monday. This is hopefully just a way to keep wavering players on board until the quiet period, since we won't have a new coach by then.
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionWe should offer $500K to his charity in exchange for his departure. Make him choose. He's made $10M here, how much more does he need to retire comfortably on the islands?

Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extension
I am saying he retires after the UCF game. There is no way there is a real offer. All signs point to him leaving after this year in a way that saves face. If you add it all up - the buy out, recruiting this year, Mumme, first year in AAC, no offer before, June saying he will "probably" sign it. It just screams gone. I could be wrong, SMU had not always acted logically, and this is my own reading of the situation not any special inside info. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionCan't tell if they sourced any one of the SMU side from this article. June statements seem a little vague to draw the conclusion made. Did he get a raise? Are there conditions?

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionI think Couch 'em is right.
At least he better be.
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extension“We’ve talked about it,†Jones said when asked about his contract status. “They wanted to extend me, but I just don’t like dealing with that during the season.
This part makes me optimistic he's out. If you want to stay and you have an offer in hand, why not sign it? 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: DMN: SMU has offered June a 2 yr extensionW/ recruiting as it is I don't see how Jones can sign it in good conscience??? Don't see how the offer could even be extended either. But then again when it's other people's money - why not??? But then again- ask the US govt! LOL! What a sad joke.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
