Man, this isn't to talk down. I root for SMU, my 2nd favorite team as long as Brown is coach. Was not the intention. Intention is simply no need to get worked up about this closer than people would've liked because we still won and it means little in the grand scheme of things. This thread was started to keep things in perspective so we don't jump off the cliff. Jameis Chistmas

I am so sick of the pontificating from two of you so called "basketball minds" !
If we want to discuss, we will discuss, if we want to worry we will worry. If we want to say we played fine tonight, or any night, fine.. ( and I do think we played fine tonight, being on the road, 4 games in six night, and lots of travel, and we still controlled the game).

But enough already, with the "oh, you need to temper your expectations BS! these threads do come off as very condescending.

Chill bro

Whatever bro, there is nothing to chill here, we just do not need to be told how to be fans. this thread is a total talk down to SMU fans.
We don't nned a thread for this, and certainly not a novella to make the point.

I appreciate the basketball insights from some of you, but lets not get too full of ourselves, ok?

Yeah, but he has a point. This team has a LOT of newcomers here and it will take time to get everything running smoothly, even with a HOF coach like LB. So far we've beaten everyone we should have beaten- style points don't really matter, yeah, I wish we'd beaten UVA and we could have, but that's water under the bridge. We have a lot of opportunities for quality wins in our AAC schedule

And considering we haven't made the tourney in 20 years we probably do need to be told how to be fans

I'm not trying to tell people how to be fans! lol, just trying to keep us all from going off the bridge over a game that SMU won. Damn, this post was taken the wrong way, I think I'm rubbing a lot of people the wrong way since I didn't graduate from SMU. Anyways, just want the best for LB and the boys and things are looking up. Simply trying to keep perspective, eyes on the prize, and be logical in what transpired.

No, it's not you, there's just a couple people on this board who have 24/7 PMS.

I just think that there are a lot of people on this board that are making the switch over to the bball team (which is great), but don't have a great understanding of college basketball and its intricacies. Not a big deal. We are all learning.

I can't fathom how anyone can read Pony Fans and feel like they're being talked down to. Hell, I spend half of my time on here reading the football boards to feel better about my emotional stability and football knowledge.

If you feel like other posters are being mean or arrogant, go write about it in your diary. Wait. Was that condescending?

I think SMU86 expressed it better than I, but yeah, like he said!!
Sorry, I didn't see his post until now...

And Hey OhioBrown,
I really do appreciate you coming over to root and follow SMU. And I know that wasn't your intent to talk down to us.
Anyway, that was my take, and BTW I am not upset about any of this, and I agree with most of what you said,
and I do apologize for my seemingly abrasive reaction! And I should have just left SMU86 to get dog piled.

Anyway, Welcome to PonyFans, after being slapped around a bit!
Beat the hell out of anybody!

I don't see anyone jumping off a cliff. I think you are overreacting. Even the football people that are converting over to hoops not jumping off a cliff. Just chill OhioBrown. Other than that I am ready for the team to play Saturday. Go SMU.

I personally don't believe SMU/Ponyfans is different than another other fan site. These sites serve many purposes. SMU just has its own special dynamic due to the demographics, history, etc. I believe you should be able to say what you want, but you should always remember that your comments can serve as a reflection of SMU (even to a minor degree). Just my two cents and worth what you paid.

Good point CMF. And since you are a Kansas grad I think you have seen it all on the Kansas basketball boards.
