Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?If true...wow. He's a stud recruiter, but to leave for your cross-town archrival is pretty bold
@PonyUpSports 2m Reports are former #SMU coach Adrian Klemm will be leaving UCLA for USC to lead recruiting. Would love to have back at SMU, true stud 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient

Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?This year I believe he became recruiting coordinator. When USC hired their coach I was wondering if USC would go after him. Bolsters USC recruiting plus its a big hit on biggest competition. Love to know his salary. These two teams know its an LA shootout. SMU needs to realize how important it is to have the best recruiters and contacts in our back yard

Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?
Just curious- any idea what he was making when he was at SMU? 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?Also I wonder if this foreshadows Mora leaving Westwood for Washington? If so, talk about a blow to UCLA

Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?Mora just signed an extension at ucla that increases his pay to being on of the top 15 paid coaches and he also increased the salaries of his assistants. He used Washington's interest to get a pay raise, a commitment to build a new football only facility, and increased the pay of his assistants. Ucla just hired kennedy pala as their rb coach...so I think the have probably as fine a staff of recruiters as anybody in the nation. Mora won't lose Klemm over money.
Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?I doubt that he made big money here. Remember, prior to his 2 years here as OL coach his only coaching experience was 2 years here as an unpaid Graduate Assistant. June gave his former player his first coaching opportunity, so it's not like he had a long resume that would command a big salary.
But I don't think the money really mattered much, as Klemm had a good run in the NFL. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?
disagree...he's widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country 2005 PonyFans.com Rookie of the Year Award Recipient
Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?PerunaPunch will never get it. USC and UCLA are in a bidding war because Klemm is one of the most valuable recruiters in College Football and the word I'm reading is that UCLA may still win this. Right he's not going to get much out of this bidding war between two rich BCS schools for one of the best recruiters in both of their hometowns

Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?
The operative word in perunapunch's post was here. He meant he did not think klemm made much money here at SMU. A bidding war between USC and UCLA does not have anything to do with how much klemm made here.
Re: Klemm leaving UCLA for USC?
Thank you Grant Carter. For Stallion, it doesn't matter what the TRUTH (sorry, had to go Prime Time on ya) is anymore if it conflicts with his vision for the perfect Stallion reality. So he pretty much just automatically gainsays anything I post regardless of the source -- even if that source is, in this case, Adrian Klemm. Unless Klemm was lying to my face (and there was no reason for him to), he was unpaid his first couple of years here. Feel free to contradict me, but I think the very definition of Graduate Assistant stipulates unpaid. I think there's a video on PonyFans somewhere of Klemm talking about how he convinced his friend June Jones to let him come onboard at SMU as an unpaid GA because Klemm thought he'd like to try his hand at coaching. I will try to find it if you'd like to continue this argument. When McKnight was... let's call it replaced... I assume Klemm got whatever was allotted for McKnight's salary or less, because of the fact that he was being promoted from an unpaid GA job and he had no prior coaching experience. That is, I admit, an assumption. But 1) I don't think McKnight was in the same tax bracket as assistants such as Morrison and Mason to begin with, 2) unlike some of the other assistants June brought with him, McKnight was not June's first choice, just who was available at the time, and 3) you'd have to average whatever that salary was with two years of $0 to know how much Klemm was paid while he was here. Also, in the same conversation about his compensation, Klemm told me about how much he made in the NFL (can't remember the number, but it was more than Stallion makes -- again, an assumption, but one I'm comfortable making), how he had bought a number of homes (here and in CA as I recall, as well as one for either his mom or his parents, I forget which), and the fact that he really didn't need the money, that he was just grateful to be reunited with his buddy June and the opportunity to break into the coaching field. If you knew the circumstances behind Klemm's departure, you would also know that we were not outbid by UCLA for his services. So whatever he's making now -- and I hope it's a [deleted] because I do, in fact, like the guy -- it's all due to the job he's done on the West Coast. The fact that you continue to defend Klemm tells me you're not nearly as knowledgeable as you pretend to be. If you don't believe me, just log off and go ask around.
