Without Gilbert we would've lost to Memphis, Temple, Montana State, and maybe even UConn. Who is going to be the wunderkind to cover up for incredible lack of depth at talent? Burcham? Please. That kid is not a D1A quarterback.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Don't forget how long it took GG to "get" this system. You want Burcham to just walk in and perform?

Has SMU released a statement? I don't think this is a done deal by any means. Just a comment in an article. I wouldn't get too depressed quite yet.

This is disheartening. Too tough to support a football program on a downhill trajectory and with a HC that doesn't care about the school, our traditions and emphasizing recruiting.
Don't know if I will watch another game while JJ is the HC.

Burcham is a D1A QB and going to be a good just not off the charts probably like GG. The losses will be a team thing and not all on Burcham.

Obviously Trent Dilfer thought there was something special about Burcham seeing as he was Co-MVP at the Elite 11 QB camp a few years ago. And the guy he happened to share the title with just happens to be the guy who will most likely win the Heisman this year, Jameis Winston.

Take a break from dreaming up your next Todd Dodge/Stallion quip to remember back when you though Gilbert was terrible and would never do anything at SMU. Wasn't that long ago.

Baylor - blowout loss UNT - likely loss A&M - blowout loss TCU - blowout loss
Depending on who we get in conference play I think the ceiling next year is 4 wins no matter who the coach is. The lack of talent on this team will be blaringly obvious without Garrett Gilbert covering all the warts. This will be one of the worst SMU teams post DP.
There will be much to discuss on this board as there is plenty of competition for that distinction.

UNT loses a lot of seniors so that is probably a win. Wins against Tulane, UConn, Temple, USF, and Memphis gives us 6 wins. Tulsa did not have a good year so you could throw them in there as a saftey net game. It's called scheduling your way to a bowl.
With June at the helm, I wouldn't "pencil in" wins & losses

Troubling thought. Maybe SMU put out "feelers" and no one was interested in the job.

I can say with total confidence that is NOT the case.
