If he did you would think he wouldn't be doing this media campaign.

I voted yes just because I have no faith the SMU wouldn't give him one just to maintain the status quo and publically make everything look all nice.

My rationale however, does tell me that something fishy is going on and that this may just be a way for him to save face in the event that SMU doesn't give him one, so he can say he walked away and not that we canned him.

I just don't know if SMU has the stones for it.... :(

They will never fire the man who brought the program -- what the powers to be think -- "out of the cellar". He's got a contract for life here methinks.

If he has a contract of life why is he saying he has a 2 year contract that he has not signed yet?

Can someone please help me with this? When JJ was given the extension the first time, it was announced at a game. What I don't remember is what game and was it before the last game of the season?
It makes sense to me.

I voted no. The reason I did was because in the article he said he didn't want to deal with it during the season. In any contract negotiation their are a ton of tiny details and language modifications that need to be made before the contract is signed. Lawyers sit in a room and hash all of this stuff out. Then they go back to the principals and go over it with them, followed by more haggling over language...etc. if he doesn't want to deal with this during the season, chances are the final contract isn't written. They probably came to some agreement in principal, like he had with ASU before the plug got pulled. It isn't final until it is signed.

He's got an offer not a contract. No acceptance, no meeting of the minds.

A Very good source says that offer was made early summer. He NEVER signed it. Which leaves me to believe he was looking for a better deal and could not find it. That is why Steinberg is going on the PR offensive (my belief).

Isn't this the same stunt he pulled on the last extension? He put it in his pocket for 6 months and kept everyone on edge.
