Give him 24 hrs to decide.
his coaching keeps us in alot of games. If he still had Klemm, this thing might be rolling right now. find two ace recruiters and JJ is salvagable and actually a good fit for SMU. Not saying it will happen, but i don't see the point in throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

He is not going to miraculously figure out how to recruit this late in his career after doing it his way so long. He is a lost cause in this department. Cut your losses and go to the next staff. I think we will be very happy about who and what we can attract

If I have an employee that is woefully incompetent in half of his job and is not self-motivated to solve this deficiency, I dont force him to improve himself, I can him amd bring in a high performer who is self-motivated.

People don't like him because they like to hate. Where would we be had June not been our coach? Anybody dare to hazard a guess?

I hope the invisible AD will figure this out or all of the hardcore SMU fans (250 of us) will bail.

You're partially right to bail if we don't move in a new direction.

Same place we are now.

People don't dislike him because they like to hate, they dislike him because they dislike lazy, indifferent and self centered.

PB- do you really think that? IMO most on this board just want SMU to win and have respectable sports programs. As I have stated before, I like jj as a person but no longer want him as a coach.

JJ is a good person....just tired. I would be cashing those checks too if I was him.

If he won't, both sides need to move on. sorry when you finish 5-7, you don't get to dictate all the terms and have to compromise.

We've already seen a re-dedicated June...and this is it. Are you guys nuts!?! Turner swore up and down that June was re-committed to SMU after the ASU cluster-f* and I think June indicated as much at our 2012 recruitment event. If he has to be "re-invigorated" every other season why would you commit to that?

I also knew about all the Basketball players mentioned above-but try to keep argument on June's recruits but also consider we admitted the PG about 5 years ago who didn't graduate from high school but instead got a GED. Great kid turned his life around-but the standards were lowered several years ago now. The Urban Myth that refuses to die frustrates me
Derek Williams, I believe is the PG that you are thinking of, and he's a good example of a kid making the most of his opportunity. I dont mean to hijack this thread for basketball, but since I mentioned Leslee Smith above I thought it worth noting that he is at Nebraska now, and having a solid year so far, he doesnt start but he's their 6th man, 19 minutes per game, 9 points 7 rebounds.

No that's great. The obvious SMU admission changes first became obvious to me with the BASKETBALL recruits in the semester BEFORE June got here and then the 17 Category C recruits in June Jones first full recruiting class

SMU decision makers seem to be weak kneed nillies. We've been so bad for so long they have put JJ completely in the drivers seat. I don't want to hear about admission standards, IPF or any such nonsense. Duke is doing it. Baylor did it. Stanford is certainly doing it. All private schools putting their backs into it. No excuses for SMU to not get this done. Get a damn coach who will recruit, invest in the program and let's do this thing. Otherwise [deleted] off. Duke, Stanford, Baylor et al have proven all that is just bs.
