Do you realize we will have a new coaching staff/recruiter for 2014?

As of 7:47PM tonight, it looks like we don't. If that changes, of course, let's talk about capital improvements. But, as of right now, that would be like handing the keys of a 2014 Vette to Stephen Hawking. What the hell is the point.

You do know they can put hand controls on 2014 Vette that controls the accelerator & breaking?

IPF is an excuse and will make an appreciable difference.

IPF is necessary. It is critical to recruiting and it is what keeps our team practicing while there is severe weather (heat/cold etc.). We need it. Every school in the Big 12 has one, so if you want to compete at that level, build an IPF. If you are content with Jones losing to Big 12 teams, stop crying because they beat us in everything from facilities to athleticism to everything...period.

I watch interviews with E Mudiay and Nic Moore . Question: why did you choose to attend SMU. Answer: Larry Brown and his staff.
Not the renovation of Moody, not Crum Center, not the education.
It was the staff.

It applies to all sports. Why was Margus Hunt at SMU ? Dave Wollman - world class throwing coach.

We should spend on a head coach who can attract great assistants and then pay them well.

Once get that covered and if there is money still available then go for an IPF.

Okay just to clarify. I understand that a coach carries the most weight when recruiting.

In terms of infrastructure, IPF should be #1 priority at the moment. WE HAVE THE MONEY!

Once again, since you do not listen, Jones was offered the IPF and refused because he would not walk across the street. Because of that it was lowered on the priority list. It will get built in due time but he should have accepted it when he could have if it was that important.

Why do you think we have the money?

In An interview that RGT did in 2011, he said that SMU had control over only about 50-75 million from a $1 billion endowment. The donors direct their gifts toward a specific purpose and so far no one has directed a gift toward an IPF.

Also, remember that the "endowment" includes the value of the physical plant. That includes a big chunk of some of the most valuable real estate in the city.

Just a quick point here, I felt it neccessary to mention that June didnt have an indoor practice facility at Hawaii, he had an UNDERWATER facility. In the fall when it rained their practice field would flood, and one end would become unusable for 2 months. June didnt win at Hawaii because of their facilities or amenities, he won because he cared. Hawaii was his dream job, it was a labor of love, he built a team for his home and his people, he put his heart and soul into that job because he wanted it badly. He came to SMU because the school offered him 3 times what Hawaii could afford to pay him, and he needed to start a retirement fund. He won at Hawaii because he wanted it more than anything else in life. Here, he gets paid either way, so..... meh.

I like June's gaw:
I don't want the IPF where you've set aside land to put...I want it where I want it...which requires you to build a brand new soccer stadium and track and field facility also...but that's what I want. Otherwise, no.

NY - i wouldn't bet my life on it - but pretty sure our endowment does not include the value of our real estate. Not that it matters related to this discussion.

We are SMU. We have the money. That is the least of our concerns.

Moody got shotgun so we are almost finished building it. Now the IPF should come next...not the Natatorium, not the Tennis facility, not whatever crappy sport facility we want to build...FOOTBALL brings the BACON...FOOTBALL GOES FIRST! I P F

You do realize we have invested probably over $150 million in facilities and coaching salaries based on direct gifts from our generous alumni since the turn of the decade. There probably isn't another non-BCS program in the country except for BYU (which doesn't count) that has had such generous gifts from its alumni. The issue is not about the money. Its about logistics and campus planning. If it could be built tomorrow I'd bet the money would be there. Meanwhile we average less than 15,000 of our own fans. Just be happy we have alumni who apparently enjoy funding projects for entitled fans like you because quite honestly investing in the SMU sports program makes very little financial sense. We definitely can not afford all the bells and whistles than BCS programs can
