I wish our school would respond like that...to me that shows balls which I haven't seen any indication of in my time following SMUSoCal_Pony wrote:What's the worst thing he can say? that SMU is a $hitty little school? Seriously, what can he possibly do?
I say bring it. If JJ attempts to trash SMU, we can respond with the facts...that SMU has spent some $150M recently on athletics and are unsatisfied with the return on their investment on this particular revenue sport, therefore the change. Plus all SMU supporters will close rank against him. Quite possibly some CoC members may open their wallets a bit more to prove him wrong.

We need not worry about what June thinks, says, or does. He's a coach. Coaches get fired. It's part of the business he's chosen.
Hopefully, we get this mess cleared up quickly, hire the new coach, and move on. I'm sure June is a nice person, in fact a really good person. And, he's done some good things at SMU (some hair brained nonsense too: Armed Forces Bowl, the geldings, the tiki junk, just to name a few). Good luck to June!

What makes June's argument on the admission standards even worst is the fact that it doesn't seem to have an impact on Larry Brown's recruiting.ojaipony wrote:SMU decision makers seem to be weak kneed nillies. We've been so bad for so long they have put JJ completely in the drivers seat. I don't want to hear about admission standards, IPF or any such nonsense. Duke is doing it. Baylor did it. Stanford is certainly doing it. All private schools putting their backs into it. No excuses for SMU to not get this done. Get a damn coach who will recruit, invest in the program and let's do this thing. Otherwise [deleted] off. Duke, Stanford, Baylor et al have proven all that is just bs.

If its so bad why does he want to stay

Recruits and parents of recruits hear this negative stuff about SMU. And it hurts outside perception of the school.TidePony wrote:We need not worry about what June thinks, says, or does. He's a coach. Coaches get fired. It's part of the business he's chosen.
