I am prepared. I already don't give a flip about SMU football anymore. (VERY liberating.)

Anxious folks in Nacogdoches. They are worried 2 more years of June stealing their recruits.

JJ is coming back. He has an extension in hand. RGT said in the interview someone posted, "The Athletic Department deficit is down $3M since JJ came to SMU." So JJ is golden with the admin. Someone else pays his large salary and the AD is costing him less money annually. The CoC likes him or he would never have received the extension.
MY PREDICTION:
He will keep the extension he has in his pocket until at least signing day. This way he can keep pressure on the admin for whatever committment he is looking for. Nothing will be said this week one way or another.

The CoC can pay someone else's salary as well. Sounds like you are a hardcore JJ supporter that favors extortionary tactics. That kind of stuff usually backfires. And I don't think RGT said in the interview "since JJ came to SMU."

Do you have a minimum quota for how many times you have to type "hardcore JJ supporter" every day? Please tell me you at least have a keyboard shortcut for it, you could save yourself a lot of time. The post you quoted did not strike me as supporting JJ, hardcore or otherwise.

I'm sorry but feelthehorsepower has already assured us that we have already come to terms with another coach.

Rebel - I'm not a giant JJ supporter. I would have canned him for recruiting players for ASU. I am a giant SMU supporter. Putting all of the cards on the table. If I was making the decisions.
1. I would walk into JJ's office at 9:00 am tomorrow morning and say, "Coach, Saturday was a tough loss to end a really tough season. We offered you an extension in June and you have neither accepted, nor rejected the offer. If I don't receive an answer one way or another by 3:00 tomorrow the offer is formally withdrawn." I would fax a letter to Steinberg saying the same thing.
2. I would have a conference call with the COC and give them a heads up. Explaining that this is not the way to do business and if he doesn't sign in a timely fashion he doesn't get it.
3. Tuesday at 3:00, I would contact search firms and get them prepped for a coach search.
4. I would get the school's PR department start preparing the talking points for me and my staff.
5. I would create a policy for the Athletic Department that no coach can speak with the Media without express written permission of the AD when their season is not going on.
6. If he doesn't quit by Friday, I would start the negotiation for a buyout and relieve him of his duties.

I would agree with that plan if we had done that before he went to the media. But since going to the media I would rescind the offer immediately and begin at your 2nd point. You can't allow someone to slap you in the face publicly like he has done a second time. The first time was the ASU fiasco. Other than the first point I am in total agreement with you.

Well, I'm glad that FTHP is so confident in that. I'll believe when I see it.
Rebel - I wouldn't have a problem with that either.
