Yes, I doubt very much that announcers would speculate about anything specially (and injurious to SMU) without hearing something very similar from that person directly. That would be a big problem in that profession.

Nice spin though.

Mrydel:

He was fired the year after I left. The firing, in hindsight, was the best thing that ever happened to him. He needed to get away from the stress of coaching in the SWC and be reborn, which he did. He is in the top 5 of my favorite people living or dead.

Me too :!: :!:

Yes it was. I kinda became a North Texas, and Iowa fan afterwards. Except during our big 7-0 victory over him the next year.
May the forth be with us.

My concern is that commitment has to be a two way street. I see a guy who is a pretty good game day coach. I don't see a guy who is knocking anyone's socks off on the recruiting trail. This guy develops quarterbacks. I have to give him kudo's on Gilbert who arrived here a mess and will leave here a pretty good quarterback (probably not NFL calibre, but he'll get a cup of coffee there). He's good at developing wide outs (see Sanders, Robinson competing on Sundays). We had a tough schedule this year for 5-7 is not out of the question, we could have had a winning season with a few breaks. Next year will be much tougher for us. He kind of dumped in the punchbowl when he played footsie with Arizona State (which seemed to have made a pretty good hire after he went down in flames), and that has soiled his attractiveness to SMU fans. While Larry Brown is "committed". This was going to be June's last job prior to retirement. It may be time for him to gracefully retire.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I disagree with this. For example, he wastes TOs, never had an effective 2 minute drill (Mont St excluded), plays a limited bench during games... Etc.
