I wonder if Rick thinks Georgia and Texas Tech need an indoor practice facility to compete.

I think an IPF would be great but it's not the reason our recruiting classes have fallen off since 2011

At least he's acknowledging the backlash that pony fans have given him. Unfortunately he simply doesn't know as much about college football as he thinks. He's a 30-year NFL guy that has been forced into an all-sports columnist. He writes about teams playing cupcakes, but not ALL of these teams OOC games are against wofford and whatever other crappy team he used as an example.

Earlier this year he wrote about Mark Cuban acquiring Dirk, Nash, and Finley...not knowing that they were all a part of the team when he bought it. His knowledge of non-NFL sports is lacking, to say the least.

I give him credit for responding, but he could use a Rivals subscription for Xmas. IPF is not the reason we aren't successful. And why does he then list us as the cupcake that TT played? Don't you get it??? We expect to compete after 4 straight bowls. That's not unreasonable. He sounds like every other metro fan who watches GameDay and the national ABC broadcast only.

According to Goose's logic it doesn't matter anyway, because their other OOC games are against St. Mary's School for the Blind and South East Rhode Island State.

He's been around Dallas and football long enough to know what he's talking about - this isn't rocket science. And the points he's made, a better commitment by the school and a more favorable noncon schedule, is one plenty on this board have made. Whether or not we should fire JJ he's made valid points.

Again, the mythical list of prerequisites to determine whether someone is good at their job or not.

It's like an insurance salesman who came in to a company, and managed the old guys insurance accounts really well, but who has no contact with his customer base and couldn't sell water to a man dying of thirst- but - we demand that he be given a car, secretary, and an unlimited travel budget before we can be really, truly sure he's not good at the job he has.

Someone should tell him that SMU has never been in the Big 12

Was Rick G. promised a cut of JJ's extension? Geez.

First, regarding the OOC schedule - yes, we should probably make it easier than 1 SEC, 3 Big 12 opponents as it was scheduled this year. I don't care about attendance - that was a ridiculous schedule for an AAC school. However, Rick Hart has already addressed this matter and talked about our scheduling going forward of 1 big-time game (Michigan/TAMU), 1 like-minded BCS school (Wake, Duke, etc), local rivals TCU and UNT, or an FCS school.

This solution is probably not what JJ wants - he would prefer 4 FCS schools I think, so he could start 4-0 no matter who he recruits. But I believe that Hart's plan is a good one, and in any given year we can end up 3-1, 2-2, or 1-3.

Second, regading the IPF - this is a RED HERRING. June is redirecting the argument from "why don't you recruit" to "I need an IPF to recruit". This is a politician/lawyer trick, and I am sure it is being directed by Leigh S.

Is the IPF a nice thing to have? Of course. Does it help recruit players? Somewhat, but not necessarily. Do we need it to compete? Heck no - just ask the many BCS schools going bowling this year who don't have or need an IPF. Too many to list here, but as long as the IPF is in the works, I am okay with it.

Bottom line IMHO - Jones has no one to blame for the recruiting woes but himself and his staff. Period.

It would also be nice to know if June was actually, really, seriously promised an IPF where Mrs. Bairds was. Because if he was, and said no, then it makes the comments more egregious. But if June was never, ever asked or consulted or offered an IPF at any location, it does strengthen his argument that he may not have been delivered promised capital improvements after taking the job.

Either way it doesn't excuse his serious shortcomings as a D-1 CFB coach in Texas, but it isn't irrelevant either, and we've never gotten 100% confirmation either way.

Someone should ask that question during the NYC event tomorrow.

I believe we tried to build JJ an IPF but he turned it down because he did not like the location when Orsini was here. It almost like he didn't want one so that he can continually keep this argument up.
