have always liked him as a coach but don't think he would fit here. First, I doubt if he would put up with a lot of the admin crap, also probably wouldn't recruit much better than jj.

NO.

He has not won anything since 1998 and is not a college coach.

Kyle would be better than Mike. I can't see Mike kissing up to recruits. Kyle also created a read option offense at the pro-level to accommodate RGIII. He's creative and would probably be more flexible in his game plans to use what talent he has.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I think Shanahan made a career off winning the Elway lotto. I've seen nothing that leads me to believe he can coach a team that doesn't have a HOF QB at the helm.

He's lost it, if he ever had it.

Correction: Dan Reeves won the Elway Lotto. Shanahan came later as QB coach and O-Coordinator. And it was not until Shanahan took over and started implementing his WC offense that the Broncos and Elway were able to win the big one. They did it though low round draft picks like Shannon Sharpe, Terrell Davis, Rod Smith etc. overplaying tier draft potential and picking up a couple of former 49ers (Romo and McCaffrey).

The decisions made in DC about personnel have been horrid for years (Seriously - Albert Haynsworth? Champ Bailey for Portis?). But they really did start to turn the corner last year.

BTW - Shanahan has two more Super Bowl Championship Rings than Mike Ditka.
