Worst Case Scenario
JJ was offered an extension and never signed it. The question was/is why? Looks like he is trying to get improved facilities like he tried at Hawaii (and increase in assts salary). It could be for money.
Appears SMU is saying take it or leave on the extension. Ergo, worst case - Lame duck coach for one year who really doesn't care.

Re: Worst Case Scenario
I posted my worst case on another thread. JJ retires/quits on Jan 31st. We get stuck with this entire staff for another year with one of them being named the interim HC, all of our recruits are freaked out and take one of their FCS offers, and we have no one recruiting for another 12 months.
Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall

Re: Worst Case Scenario
I would say an extension to June's and Leigh's liking would be much worse, as it would be longer, have a higher buyout, be less incentive -laden, and likely keep him here a lot longer when he's not invested in our long-term success.

Re: Worst Case Scenario
Come on! The worst case? No one knows. JJ could leave and be replaced by someone unable to do the job. The worst case for many on this board is JJ is right...
I'm not saying he is, but the worst case is unlikely to be JJ staying here.

Re: Worst Case Scenario
The worst case scenario is someone being somewhere they don't want to be just because of the money. In the end it is not good for either party. I have seen it too many times in corporate America.

I've seen the worst case scenario. It's no football. Or, worse, it's getting beat 96-21 with a group of guys that look like girl scouts playing against giants.

That is true.

For me, the worst case is not that JJ stays...it's that he leaves/we fire him and we end up with a shite-ier coach...

I would take two years of 95-21 losses with a head coach that wants to be here, is working his butt off, and gives a damn about SMU and it's community/traditions vs. the sorry excuse of what we have had for the past few years. It's not even/only about the recruiting and on the field product. June telling the media that 'I have an extension in hand and I PROBABLY will sign it' is embarrassing. Sorry, but he's not the type of leader that this proud community needs and deserves.
Re: Worst Case Scenario
A coach that divides the fan base and continues to do things to irritate fans is not worth it. If he comes back it will be more division and that is not good for the fan base.

We have to work on the fan base...that's on us as well as on SMU, JJ and the team. Everyone needs to reach out to the community and the team/JJ need to win...period

The fan base will be divided regardless. JJ did this to himself and he keeps making it worse. CK, I can see why you would want him here.
