Counting- 16 days without a football recruiting story/update

Postby ponyinNC » Wed Dec 11, 2013 9:58 am

I'm going to keep this thread going and see how many days usually pass between getting any football recruiting updates/stories/commits/visits/ anything!

I know there are dead periods and so forth, but this board has been CRICKETS for so long now.

It was 15 days ago that we had a story on new commit from Frisco Lone Star OL Nick Natour. Over 2 weeks and nothing on the FB recruiting front.

If we retain/extend June Jones - I am going to continue this thread all year and email the results to Rick Hart.

I count 16 recruits with verbal commitments, is that right? And we would expect to sign 25? More than 25? June mentioned that next year's class was about taken care of, that would imply more kids are coming.

There are restrictions on coaches discussing potential commits right? So the silence on recruiting comes from the recruiting "services" rather than the coaching staff right? Or is that totally wrong? I remember Klemm tweeting a bunch, but not sure how that works?

You are correct in that dead periods in which no contact can take place exist, so that accounts for lack of news sometimes. I will account for that - but this board is open to fans, alums, students, etc that might have recruiting news/stories at any time. So you would think there would be more activity.

Klemm used to tweet where he was recruiting and give hints on commits, etc. Reinebold did the same on Facebook. We do not get that anymore.

I just want to track the lack of interest from fans, the lack of news from coaches/staff/potential recruits, etc. compared to other sites I visit for other programs.

Good idea. I'm today's age it would not kill them to throw us a bone every now and then (also a topic of a recent email to RH)

Not saying there is a lot of news right now, but the pay sites are the places to look for recruiting updates, not here.

Yeah, I have a rivals membership - but info on that board has really been lacking as well. At least for football recruits.

Tere is constant news on basketball because we are constantly working on that side, as opposed to the crickets chirping in the football offices while everyone else in football world is out visiting.

There won't be enough scholly's for 25 I believe. I think the number we are looking for is 17, so that's why JJ said that. Guess we are not planning on 'oversigning' either.

June got rid of the people who use modern technology. June was going to start tweeting but when someone told him the projector couldn't do that he gave up.

We really should over sign. We could grey shirt over half the class and have nothing to worry about.

Agree, but golf doesn't play itself.
