Couple of observations I saw

ST - We obviously didn't have a coach as we got worse throughout the year. Is anyone concerned with the fact that we graduated both our kickers and neither could punt worth a darn? Better get those ads in the Daily Campus quick so we can have someone for Spring Training

RB - It does seem odd to have Timmy coach the running backs and I really didn't see a lot exponential development of them through the season. Would make more sense to put Wes back there since he did coach Zach for 4 years real well. That could be a product of Zach or a combination of Zach and Wes working together.

OL - They seemed to come together towards the end and did well in the UCF game.

Defense - Not sure what happened to Mason this year. Understand he lost a lot in the front seven but was supposed to have a much better and deeper secondary to compensate. It really seemed like he was a lot more timid this year and not blitzing near as much as last year. If you run a 3-4 you got to blitz and keep them on their toes otherwise the secondary will get beat.

You are trying to support your argument that Timmy Chang is a bad RB coach because he didn't play the position in college. My contention is that the two aren't necessarily linked.

blackoutpony wrote:Timmy hasn't been around that long either and it clearly shows with the poor play of our back this season.

You may think the poor play is due to coaching while I'd contend talent level is a much bigger issue.

I would like to try out for the punting position... I have 4 years of eligibility and can punt the ball further than 25 yards on average.

Yea our punting this year was a joke, especially since Jones doesn't believe in punting. :?

Wonder if it was all on Hover & Loftus or did our deep snapper not get the ball to the cleanly?

Mike Leach never even played the sport. I hear what you're saying though.

Mason is just collecting a paycheck now it seems. He wants to be a HC - some pretty interesting quotes from some interviews when he was pursuing that hc job last year.

That is unfortunate, probably bringing Mumme on to the staff signaled to him he wouldn't get a shot after June left plus not getting the other job last year.

I don't knowing that's true, they could make Mumme OC and Mason HC. But with prior HC experience Mumme might not go for that.

maybe we should just cut the funding for assistants in half and make jj work a little harder with less staff.

If SMU submits its tax returns and there's a deductible business expense for special teams coach, they're going to get audited because no one would ever believe we had one.
