Delay sign of a bigger Rift?

Postby gostangs » Sat Dec 14, 2013 7:58 pm

Why else would this take so long for what is currently a middle tier team in a middle tier conference? I am starting to be hopeful someone will soon say forget it, lets just try something else instead of letter this average coach jerk us around.

Might the CoC start talking to Mack Brown? Just kidding I guess.

Friday is when you announce bad news like June returning. Perhaps we are waiting until Monday for good news?

What so weird is that there is possibility that you could be right. I think Texas State had a better class last year or the year before.

I certaintly hope this is a sign of a bigger rift.

My take on all this...SMU has been fighting the football wars for 20 years with one hand tied behind its back. FINALLY we make a commitment to play. And in typical SMU fashion, we do it in a grand way; signing JJ to an unprecendented salary.

What do we get in return? A HC who clearly is unmotivated in one of his two most important job functions, talent acquisition (I do blame Orsini in part for lack of due diligence).

Now over the past couple of months, posters such as PonySnob are telling us the CofC will not 'PonyUp' for a new HC. I think there is credence to this argument as seen in this current delay over JJ's status.

If we do retain JJ or go cheap on the next hire, it will mean that our only meaningful chance at the brass ring over the PAST 30 YEARS!!! will have been in the hands of a lazy POS HC.

I never mind losing if you go down swinging and know in your heart you gave it your best shot. Clearly that will not be the case with SMU football.

Yep, call me tainted.

At Moody Coliseum on 1/4 where we can watch a coach that appreciates SMU and has a team that is fun to watch.
