Cool! 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

We'd be doing well if we could just kill off the Phony Pony

FYI, you can buy UT hats in white with an orange Longhorn, orange with a white longhorn, black with an orange longhorn, black with a white longhorn, navy blue with a orange longhorn, etc. I've even seen the really large guy on Storage Wars Texas wear a UT hat that is GREEN with a white longhorn.

Doesn't he live in HP. SMU should reach out to see if he could help with some kind of marketing ploy.

Break open the vault and hire him as our Recruiting Coordinator. Mission accomplished.

Why would you want to stop there? Give him the HC position and let him roll with it. He would be a really good face for the program.

Having Troy Aikman as SMU HC would be a coup! And I have no hesitation in saying he'd be suuccessful.

Btw, I posted a comment about his SMU hat, let's bomb this story with more SMU comments!

Do we need to list all the former players who flopped as coaches?

I agree with you that most don't pan out, but I wouldn't dismiss the chance that Troy could be a helluva coach. That guy has not been good, but he's been great at everything he's done in the game of football. You know he's a leader, passionate, smart, young, well known and very knowledgable about the game. Granted that doesn't mean he'll be a good coach but I have a hard time doubting anything that guy does.

One last thing, I know he absolutely HATES losing at anything. So there's no doubt he'd be all in and driven.

Nope.
But I sure as hell would not bet against Aikman in anything he does.

I guarantee you he wouldn't leave the cupboard bare, if he did fail.
