Wow... Didn't see this coming. I figured since he and Powers won the power struggle to keep their jobs, they would actually want to keep their jobs.

so how many recruits does Texas lose with Brown's departure? I suspect not many. Rick Hart pay attention. Do you believe letting JJ go after 2014, when his contact is up, that SMU will lose any recruits? I do not support holding JJ in perpetuity with the excuse he can continue to recruit at the level he has proven to be so disappointing. Tell JJ he is gone after 2014 and let's start to build.

tell jj that he is finished here. This was his last season. No reason to prolong this as it just hurts the fball program.

Mack deserved to go out on his own terms, he more than earned it. That program was a turd when he took over. If he indeed did give UT the double fisted middle fingers, then good for him!

Could have said the same thing but just subbed in Larry Brown for a Texas retread. Not saying it would work, but if he actually had interest (do not think he does) it would be worth interviewing him.

There are older coaches who want to coach, are committed to winning, put in the time to do so, and support their university. Then, there are older coaches who want to draw a paycheck, think 6 wins is a good year, play in golf tournaments when they should be recruiting, and could give a rat's @#& about the university that pays them.

The former can be successful no matter their age, the later is programed for failure.

If you haven't figured out who I am talking about, here are some hints:

Let's wait until the job opens, the budget is set and candidates apply before we definitely mark Mack Brown off list. I'd like to go with a young aggressive staff but like Larry Brown you can always hire young aggressive assistants

June Jones is a big time troll...
If we could only clone Larry Brown and have him as our football coach!
