I agree with you that most don't pan out, but I wouldn't dismiss the chance that Troy could be a helluva coach. That guy has not been good, but he's been great at everything he's done in the game of football. You know he's a leader, passionate, smart, young, well known and very knowledgable about the game. Granted that doesn't mean he'll be a good coach but I have a hard time doubting anything that guy does.

One last thing, I know he absolutely HATES losing at anything. So there's no doubt he'd be all in and driven.

So you're saying he wouldn't pencil in losses?

And SMU would definitely get a pop in attendance!

If he were interested in coaching, this would be perfect school for Troy.

Who knows, maybe he is dropping us a hint.

I do not get your point. Most coaches were former players. So most flops were former players. Most successes were former players also. Now I will say most players who made a gazillion dollars playing more often flop, I would imagine because the drive and dedication may not be there. Also being a great player does not make you a great coach. But you cannot dismiss a prospect because he is a former player.

That's awesome. I never liked him as a player, because I don't like the Cowboys, but you get a much more popular, visible fan.

Does he have a kid old enough to be in college?

Nope. Just looked it up. Two girls, 13 and 11.

I have heard him say many times that he has no interest in coaching because he saw how many hours they worked. He has a great lifestyle right now.

I think a color analyst 17 weeks a year is a pretty cushy job. Why go through the pain of growing a mid major college program?

Boredom. Guys like Troy love the competition, the challenge. I'm not saying he would do it, or wants to do it, but it would not surprise me.

I think that by former players he was referring to former players without any coaching experience, so there only experience is being a star player. I tend to agree that most former players are not cut out to be coaches simply because they played the game, they need coaching experience too. That is not to say that former players that put in some time as coaches could eventually be very successful as head coaches.

Aikman wearing SMU hats, Primetime Jr. on the field, and I saw Charles Haley in Hart's suite for the Texas tech game. That's a lot of cowboys circling our program.

As long as they are 90's Cowboys, I like it. Today's (12/15) not so much.
