Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearObese suburban helicopter parents just want to park as closely as possible, watch little Johnny play, then get the hell out. Unless we start knocking down buildings for Wal-Mart style parking lots, SMU will never be able to give them that.
Oh well.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
So should we start playing our games there? All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
It's not about parking. That is just what a guy on twitter guessed when responding about the coaches statements. It's about how they were treated. #HammerDown
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yeari have been to the allen stadium on many occasions and is not all the great. Our concessions would be better and the concourses are nicer. Location is better for most - since Allen is in middle of nowhere.
we need to get back in the swing of this and make it a priority. underlines the need for a real coach and staff with some energy.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearAllen Stadium doesn't always work. They usually try to come to an agreement or flip for alternative neutral venues. As the playoffs proceed schools are farther apart so SMU makes a great neutral venue for those North/South games. Arlington is farther away than Dallas but lure of JerryWorld likely wins out for mid-city schools
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
I've seen Longview play at SMU twice. Both times I've heard some pretty bad things about SMU on the whole. Coaching staff has absolutely no desire to ever play there again. ![]()
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearthey play where the school tells them to play. point is our coach and staff can put more effort into this so it is positive. parking is what it is - not that big a deal unless you are too fat.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
Would you be so kind as to give us some details about the complaints. These ambiguous statements don't really inform us very well. Thanks. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
that's what I'm thinking. What's wrong? no one is saying other than we don't like 'something'. Makes no sense. Can't believe anything is so bad that it can't be corrected. didn't they like it before?
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearMy guess:
Parking complaints. Concession complaints Locker room complaints Yellow jacket/usher complaints ..that should about cover it?
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
Maybe we could knock down that library thingy they just built, and put in football parking Just send 'da money.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearHS coaches I've talked to said SMU basically just opens the gates to Ford and that is the extent of SMU's assistance.
It takes a lot more than that to get a team set up in an unfamiliar facility. That's what they mean by SMU being poor hosts.
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this year
Now that would be terrible hosting. #HammerDown
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearSMU is just mad because more people show up to the High School games than the SMU games
Re: SMU not hosting Texas HS Football Playoffs this yearI went to Desoto-SLC and Desoto-Allen and the traffic and parking situation was unbelievably bad. It took over an hour to get from Campisis to the SMU campus. No help like on college gameday so Central and Mockingbird intersection was jammed with everyone lined up waiting to turn into campus. Jerry Jones has the same problem for large high school crowds at cowboy stadium the same way he did at Texas Stadium. Anybody remember the Trinity-Southlake Carrol Classic there a few years back where people were in line for 3 hours before giving up. They take the cheap route for traffic control and security.
