Sagarin ranking for 1998 SMU team that went 5-7 in WAC play, #67

Sagarin ranking for our 2013 SMU team, #104

Unfortunately I could not find earlier Sagarin rankings.

I think one could argue that next years' team will not be as good as this years. So I agree with PonyKris. A Rossley team would give next years' Ponies a nice tussle.

Don't confuse Bergermeister with a cogent argument. He just like to take pots shots and run away.

Another thing, rossleys run n shoot was more fun to watch. But it just shows how dated the run n shoot is. We are debating about a 1998 team to a 2013 team.

Pugilistic Pony = Simple Jack

I'm amazed there are still people out there that support keeping June Jones. We have a SEVERE case of battered wife syndrome around here.
Back off Warchild seriously.

As I previously stated, I do not support keeping Jones. But, I think he is only one small part of many, much larger problems.

Here's is a link to SMU's all-time W-L record. Other than the eighties (a decade in which our activities caused us to get the DP), please identify a sustained era of SMU success on the football field. There isn't one. Sometimes, we were respectable, but we only occasionally dominated.

The days of the SWC were fun (even when we lost), playing "name" schools before large crowds, but those days are long gone, and the college football landscape has changed enormously. If we could afford Nick Saban, and if he would come to SMU, do you seriously think he could make SMU a world-beater with a full stadium every Saturday?

Are you really so simple that you can't see that playing in the SWC and playing today are IN NO WAY COMPARABLE?!

We must have the most ignorant fanbase in the nation.

Briefly looking at Vanderbilt's record in the SEC vs. ours in the SWC...I think we look better.

Briefly looking at Stanford's record in the PAC vs. ours in the SWC...I think we look better.

Where have I ever even hinted that they are comparable?

Yet, I read people on here aspiring to play and beat our geographic and natural rivals, rather than our new AAC partners. And, just who would those rivals be? Old SWC mates.

I agree we should do everything reasonable and possible to compete and prosper in the football circumstances in which find ourselves.

Interesting and historically gratifying, perhaps, but the SWC ended in 1996. What does that now have to do with the price of tea in China? Vanderbilt is STILL in the SEC, and Stanford is STILL in the PAC. We are on the outside of P5 looking in.

Vandy and Stanford also have admins that care about their fball programs and coaches that 'get it', coaches who recruit, who engage the student body etc.. Total university support.
For us- crickets and insults to the fans.

Aren't you the guy that pretty much flipped off the entire SMU football program, earlier? I consider your one-finger salute an honor. :D
