ConcernsWas anyone else a little worried with the many dropped punts and the several mis snaps we had while in the shotgun? Hope that was the back up snapper because there seemed to be a lot of mis snaps.
Glad no one got hurt, didn't want to relive the Comet situation again. Looking forward to the season. ihatetcu
Re: Concerns
Columbus (FR-HS) was being tried as Punt Returner...and perhaps the true fresh was snapping the ball.
Yes, Columbus did drop a few in the begining, did like the way he ran afterwards though, even if no one was really trying to tackle him.
Also I believe blake dropped a couple too. But I don't think he had a problem last year, hopefully it was just some jitters.
Re: ConcernsYup. Starting center Ben Poynter delivered the ball on the money with his shotgun snaps. Mitch Enright appeared a bit jittery when he got in there. He almost snapped one right to DeMyron Martin (or maybe it was Massey/Dorsey), and I don't think Coach Burns had unveiled a direct-snap play just yet, not in the uber-conservative play list we saw the other night.
First, I have no idea how good the other teams in CUSA might be - but I don't want SMU to get down if the BU game does not go the way ponyfans think it should.
BU will be in the top half of the conference this year - I am not clowning. Please keep in perspective the talent that BU has finally recruitied and put on the field - it has certainly been several years in coming. Anyway, I think alot of damage was done last year when we got beat early by UAB, and noone mentioned that UAB had some great senior players. Had BU fans kept some perspective about the talent level at IAB< I think we could have saved a game or two more for the win column - very important to remember.
you are so full of [deleted]. Top half of the Big 12. Baylor doesn't have anywhere near that type of talent and I follow it a lot more closely than you-Geez if there is any thing worse than a SMU cheerleader spouting nonsense on this board its a Baylor cheerleader who doesn't know the first thing about what he is talking about. There is no source you could possibly point to that would support your rah-rah unknowledgeable opinion.
------- This is why "Friends don't let Friends" go to BU. Put down the Green Kool-Aid, now.
How would you have come to feel that you know more about the Bears than I? There are several games from last year that were a turn-over away from a BU victory.
I know, it doesn't count until it counts. But I was trying to warn you that the Bears will have a better team this year - we would have beaten the Big 12 North champions last year, and collecetd a couple of other wins that got away due to depth. If there is anything we have now, it is depth. I guess you don't want to feel better about your team. Fine.
Waco sun stroke victimsThe sunshine in Waco is causing heat stroke victims to hallucinate that the Bears will be in the top half of the Big 12. Granted that Baylor has a good coach and is steadily improving, they might not win one game in the Southern division. I'm not predicting that SMU will win on Sept. 3rd, but I am expecting a good game again with Bethlehem on the Brazos. If it's our Perkins boys playing the Truett crowd, then the Methodists will rule.

Re: Waco sun stroke victims
I like the poetry Sam I Am... My concerns are the same as always. Dropped passes and qb protection... well that and defense and special teams. But it bugs me how often passes hit our recievers in the hands and fall to the turf. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
\ Per STALLION's note earlier...what talent are you refering to? They are quite comparable to SMUs recruits over the past 4 years, save last year...but those guys aren't gonna play this year anyway. UAB is one of the better teams in CUSA...Baylor beat aTm, credit one. But what about their near miss to Texas State?
Do you realize how many games I have been to over the past 14 years that SMU was a turnover away from winning the damn game? We should have been 7-4 one year under Rossley, but a turnover away in 3 games prevented that. The 0-fer-12 year under Bennett, we were a turnover away from Beathing BAYLOR, Nevada, UTEP, and Fresno State (that was a good FSU team)...but we didn't. 0-12 A turnover away analysis works when your team went 10-1 one year, dropped to 5-6 but was a turnover away in 3 or 4 games, then bounces back to 9-2 the next year. It doesn't work when you are 2-10, 3-8, 3-8 or whatever BU has been.
