Poll -How Will You Respond?Discuss
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?finished with SMU fball. Don't know if I will ever come back- too many years and too much frustration that I don't need. When the admin craps all over their hard-core fan base then it is time to move on. I will support other schools- my parents alma mater and become a T-shirt of the state where I grew up. At least they are P5 and would never put up with the kind of crap that jj dishes out.
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?I have no reason to change. We all knew the extension was there. I will continue to support my school and enjoy basketball while continuing to wait for the next level in football. I will leave the heavy lifting to those that are there and know what is in the contract and what the real options are. I know many wanted Saban or Malzahn but the timing just was not right.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond? After supporting this program for the past 30 years, I'm done. The HC only signs his contract extension after he can't find a better coaching position,(IMO). He also makes derogatory comments about his current employer on TV while he is deciding to sign and then the school goes ahead and allows him to sign. And now SMU expects my support, no thank you.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?
I don't think his comments were derogatory. His concerns were legitimate: he basically wanted to make sure that SMU was committed to taking the program up to the next level and he is right that we do need that IPF and we need the school to go all in on Football. I actually applaud June for saying that. Second, we already knew he was going to sign the extension. I voted that I will increase my MC donation and buy season tickets because this would be my first time since I have only been working for 2 years now and this last year I started buying season tickets. I plan to support the program and I will be there for it. June or no June, they can count on me.
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?FTHP I hear what you are saying but you can not have your HC telling ESPN he has leverage on the school while the two parties are negotiating a contract extension.
Example, I had an employee tell me they wanted a raise and that they could make more at another company. I told this person don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. June is probably laughing at SMU GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?
SMU showed it's commitment when our admin found a way to pay $2 million per year for a head coach. The only way for us to go to the next level is to replace that lazy turd with someon who will spend more time recruiting than whining about schedules and IPFs. Leave the whining for the message boards.
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?Other: I will go ahead and buy FCS playoff tickets, since that is apparently our aspiration
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?I'll go back to supporting my football program by getting in with freebie tickets that I find with my ways. Not a dollar will come from anyone's pocket for the ticket I give at the gate. No, I don't use another ticket someone paid for. I get in with a ticket of no value to the athletic dept. I will save that money for one of the sweet corn dogs on a stick and a lemonade because they recruit better than the coach does.

Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?SMU fans who expect for a group of about 15 alumni to float this program and get us to a higher level while boycotting the program will kill any chance for us to compete at a higher level. The Circle of Champions invested in SMU in the hopes of stimulating SMU fans and jump starting SMU's BCS hopes. Who failed worse? The Circle of Champions or SMU's entitled fanbase? By any logical financial analysis of this program the enormous financial investment in SMU Football over the last 15 years (among the highest of all non-BCS schools) makes very little sense unless revenues are substantially increased through significantly higher ticket revenue. This ball game is just about over if we don't increase the fanbase whether we win or lose. All you are doing is making a chronic 50 year problem worse and reinforcing the undesireability of the SMU job to prospective coaches

Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?Even though it's painful, I will always support my Mustangs and alma mater as best I can. I can't see the advantage of not going to games or buying season tickets, or even failing to contribute to the Mustang Club. There are already too many alumni who do that. I won't give up on this school and nothing can make me, heck not even the DP or Pye could.
Re: Poll -How Will You Respond?many of you guys just don't get it
