Rivals (which doesn't look like it is up to date) has SMU at #83 in total points and #112 in average * per recruit.
For reference, in ave * per recruit, these schools are ahead of us: New Mexico St., Florida Atlantic, Ball State, Kent State, Buffalo, Western KY, Northern Illinois, Toledo, & Ohio. Some of these schools don't have many committed recruits yet, so they could go up or down.
In total points, these schools are ahead of us: FIU, Northern Illinois, Middle Tennessee, Western KY, Arkansas St. We are tied with Ball State and Toledo.
From SMU's press release: “Coach Jones and his staff have successfully engineered our football program’s journey from relative obscurity to competitive relevance,†athletic director Rick Hart said. “Under their direction, we have participated in a conference championship game a school-record four-consecutive bowl games. We look forward to partnering with Coach Jones as we now set our sights on the next phase of our rise to prominence: establishing SMU football as a championship program.â€
Apparently, all we are doing is gazing at the "next phase of our rise to Prominence". Taking action to get there is not in the current plan. Maybe it's included with the IPF around the 2015 time frame.

I think I'm gonna lay off of PF for a few days so that I don't ruin my Christmas...
Those numbers are vomit worthy
Merry Christmas everyone

Using Rivals info (Which I know isn't complete, but should be comparable), I compared our recruits to the mid level MAC team Toledo, which we were tied with in total points for 2014 commits. Toledo has 19 commits with 52 offers other than Toledo. SMU has 17 commits with 49 offers other than SMU. However, if you remove the top commit from each team you get the following: Toledo would have 18 commits with 42 offers other than Toledo SMU would have 16 commits with 27 offers other than SMU (Goulbourne has 22 offers, which is questionable due to injury) Toledo has 7 commits with no other offers. SMU has 6 commits with no other offers. Looks like we are well on our way to the next phase of our rise to prominence.

I believe if you look at who does not have FBS offers I believe you find that we have a total of 9 commits with no FBS offers.

How many have offers from bcs or "quality" non-aq (like Houston or others we would consider peers)?

I don't think Rivals has all our commits for whatever reason. Natour was one. Halverson was another that weren't listed. Of the 17 listed, I only saw 6 with no other offers. 5 only had one other offer. The type of offers were similar. Not many commits with P-5 type offers for either. If you count Goulbourne's offers, we have a higher percentage of "quality" offers. Without, its very close.

Halverson probably won't make it due to new NCAA JUCO standards. He's not on the Scout list now either
