I just know enough people round turner and his small nucleus to say we're not out of it. I know the pokes and Texas are right there, and he certainly likes osu. That said, I also know its not his choice and never will be, no matter how much he likes one school over another
Well right, a lot of this information is coming from people close to Turner that I'm getting it from. His "inner-circle" is what I meant by that. Not boosters. And typically a coaching staff has a pretty good idea of where they sit if you can get information out of them. For him to go to SMU at this point would be an absolute steal and probably one of the greatest coups I can remember in basketball recruiting. It's certainly not dead but would take a major, major change of heart at this point. SMU isn't even mentioned publicly when he lists schools, that alone is a tell-tale sign even without it coming from people that are close to him. I'm certainly not saying I'm right, I'm relaying information from people that are very close to him and a few recruiting guys that know their stuff. I will get more definitive answers today from a guy that texts with him and his dad regularly and really knows what's going on. Until then, I'm going to hold my breath because I don't want to put false information out there.

Maybe it's my pride in SMU that gets me wound up, but I don't see why ANYONE who is even a decent player in the DFW area would not have SMU in their top 3-5 IF we offered now (pretty much everyone else does if you look at 2015 and 2016 classes and we just picked up the top DFW player 2 years in a row, one of whom is a top 3 NATIONAL guy). I just don't think this guy (and/or whomever makes decisions for him) are all that bright. Why would you NOT want to go here?!? (or even just consider it). Maybe if we put on a run here and get ranked and he comes to a rocking/packed Moody he might jump on the bandwagon. But, other than that, I'm not going to cry over him not coming here. I think he's over-rated anyway, to heck with my WDNWHA committee membership application rejection!

So here's what I got. Ohio State is probably leading, Oklahoma State is the biggest threat. Texas is dangerous in one man's opinion if Rick Barnes gets off the hot seat and they have a good year (he visited for the MSU game). In his opinion, SMU and T A&M aren't giving up but are well behind the group.
He doesn't see Turner at Kansas, Kentucky or Duke because of others they have signed. Specifically, I know a poster mentioned Kansas, but that ship pretty much sailed when when they signed Cliff Alexander, at least in his opinion. He does not think he will end up there.
The trump card that Ok St has right now is the official visit, Myles used his Ohio State visit in the fall for a football weekend. So basically what it comes down to is Ohio State needs to hold on for dear life if he sets up Texas and Ok. St. visits.
My personal opinion, I think Matta is a good recruiter, not great. I think if those OVs get set-up with Texas and Oklahoma State, Ohio State is in deep [deleted]. Matta closes well behind the scenes, probably in that next bracket after the Bill Self's, Cal's, and Coach Ks of the world. This is where as a Buckeye fan I worry, I think he's better than Barnes and Ford but those OVs are trump cards as kids usually have a short memory. It's far from over but you that's where it seems to stand right now from people that are close to the recruitment. Let me put it this way, if this was football and Nick Saban or Urban Meyer were the last OV, it'd be over if teams were tied going into the last OV. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Texas sucks and that program is going nowhere but down (that win against UNC, though, was pretty cool for them). OK St is a solid team (I have no idea what they look like next year without Smart) but it's a terrible school in nowhere's-ville. Again, I just don't think this kid and his people know what they are doing.

Personally, I really like this dude's game. He can go inside and out very well for a guy of his size. The game I watched a few weeks back, his team scored 64 maybe, and he had like 30 points and 18 boards. Just an absolute beast. I don't see what you're seeing, I see a lottery pick and program changer. And a guy his size that can play center doesn't come around too often, footwork is there and I was very impressed with his touch around the rim. I think his skill set is pretty incredible but I'm not a GM. Guess we'll find out.

He's elite, no doubt. And a beast in high school. We'll see.

I think some kids have a good sense when they think they will not academically fit at a school. I do not know anything about Turner's high school academic standing, but would not be surprised if the academic situation is not a major element ( maybe subconscious ) in making a decision. Hence, schools like Duke and SMU get pushed down the list and there is little a recruiting staff can do about those elements.

He's more face up 4 than a 5. No idea where that comes from. He's a great talent, but he's not currently better than Moreira or Kennedy, which is one reason he makes little sense at smu. Beyond that, I like Texas and theories nucleus heading forward, they re far better set than say Baylor who graduates everyone

Umm smu and duke take anyone in hoops these days. Let's not pretend academics really determine anything

Turner is an excellent student from what I have heard. Duke can get anyone they want in due to a certain remedial program they have in place.
