There is still no new Longhorn head football coachTexas sucks and it is all smoke and mirrors. They are perceived as "good" because they control and own the Big 12 conference and keep other programs from flowing to the top. Texas and OU are being left behind by the Pokes, TCU and Baylor just to name a few in Facilities, recruiting, etc. In terms of raw football those programs are better than what OWho and the Whorens have-the only advantage the horns have is that they bear the state's name as well as being the flagship school. But in reality, Aggy is the top public school in TX. Aggy saw what was going on and were smart enough to move to the SEC.
By the way, I believe that when Texas leaves the Big 12 to become independent, SMU should be added to the Big 12. It would still be a nice conference, and we would rekindle rivalries with Baylor, Texas Tech and start new ones with the pokes and WVU etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Posting while drunk is a bad idea. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachIt has been oddly quiet at Texas and FSU. I willing to bet Jimbo has already agreed and they will announce after the championship. He has been the only coach to not emphatically deny rumors
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coach
He's even worse, he's posting with a Cougar High education.
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachleft behind by OSU and TCu in facilities was a clue, ….and then aggy top public school in texas was the clincher
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coach
This logic makes sense to me. However, I can see Jimbo pulling a Saban if he wins the NC and uses UT as leverage for more $$. It's also interesting to me that Briles name is back in it.
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coach
Jimbo Fisher just agreed to a contract extension. When Saban turned down Texas to stay at 'Bama it turned into a cash bonanza for other coaches. Their agents just need to float the rumor that Texas is interested. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... -extension For at least 1 more year, maybe two, FSU is a much better football opportunity compared to Texas (not talking about money, but wins vs. losses). Fisher has a very strong pipeline into FL high schools and has had 4 top 10 recruiting classes in a row. On top of that the players match his schemes. He wouldn't have that for at least two/three years at Texas. He will have Winston for at least one more season and he has a lot of young high caliber depth. The ACC is weaker than the Big XII so reaching the playoffs/NC game will be easier. If FSU wins the NC this year and gets to the NC game next year (they will have the talent and the easier road), then FSU will be considered on par (or on the road to becoming) with 'Bama - back-to-back National Championships. Then again... There is the ridiculous pile of Texas money. Last edited by stc9 on Tue Dec 31, 2013 12:54 am, edited 2 times in total.

Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachThought ESPN was saying Penn St's O'Brien
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coach
He is getting mentioned for a lot of jobs. Tampa and Cleveland in the NFL. Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachO'Brien is thought to be going to the Texans, not Texas.
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachThat's what I meant....oops
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachI blame the beer
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachI think Texas wants to have one of the highest paying football jobs in the country .... Not THE highest paying. The mentality is that football is only part of the UT mission and to get the headline as the top paid coach wouldn't sit well with the UT folks. It's not like Bama - where they have no pretense of academic excellence - UT has an academic ego and that football is not the be all and end all.
UT sees itself as an elite academic institution and to create the image as a football factory with the highest paid coach would diminish that image. So they will get a Franklin from Vandy, pay him 5 million and he will kick [deleted] with the talent. Pony 81
Re: There is still no new Longhorn head football coachCan we start a rumor that UT is pursuing June Jones to turn around their program? Of course no one would believe it, but the good news is that UT's President would get lynched for the rumor to even surface.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
