I wondered if he got hurt-3 PF only 10 minutes. Surely he would have played more( I got 3 PF from ESPN boxscore-other say he had 4 PF

look forward to getting revenge on Cincy at Moody. Don't think they will able to be so aggressive and get the calls on the road. Or i hope not.

Anyone with two eyes can see that there's at least two forwards on the bench that are better than him. He's a lame duck, undersized, doesn't produce, and is averaging 4.3 PPG with 2.8 RPG. I'll give up defense to get more production. 55 points offensively will not win many games at the collegiate level.

I'm really having a tough time seeing what Brown does in a few of the guys. And early I thought they needed a quality big in this class, I'm now for bringing a slashing guard with some hop in his step. Someone that can get his shot off when he wants it, SMU was lacking in the half-court pretty badly tonight. No outside shooting either.

Kind of like why Ryan Harp got so much playing time during the Doh era.

His dad is a grassroots guy according to Hoopmanx. So we need to treat him good.

1) The difference in this game was playing on the road, the home team gets the calls. They shot a lot more free throws than us, and on a lot of nit fouls.

2) That said, we win this game if we take care of the ball better. As much as I love Nic, I think this game is on him a little. Pushed the ball a little too quickly and turned it over too much, especially at times when we needed to slow the game down and feed the ball low. We were unable to possess the ball well enough under pressure on the perimeter to force Cincy into a half court defense. With their athleticism and help defense, you have to force them into a half court set, spread the court, and feed it in and out, using the good passing skills of the bigs.

3) Interesting move to send Manuel to the bench. I think basically Frazier and Brown are going to complete with Russell for the other two starting spots. Brown needs someone to be the backup point guard, and that is going to be Manuel's role for now on. I think LB looked out and thought that if RM, Nic, and Russell get in foul trouble against Cincy, we are screwed. So one of them had to go to the bench and be the backup ball handler. I wonder if things will stay that way moving forward.

Is he competitive enough or are my expectations just too high? He's usually the tallest guy on the floor and has a huge wingspan. Need to clean that glass and then throw it down big fella! We need you.

Ojai, he had early foul trouble and played a total of 10 minutes. He was soft w the ball, no doubt, but boards aren't going to be his calling card, cause he's a rim defender which gets him out of position looking for blocks

I understand all that, but when you play center and are 6'11" you need more than 2 rebounds . . . on the road . . . against a quality team. And we also need SOME points out of him. I like him and think he will improve, just frustrating to watch.

My frustration, or maybe my acceptance of reality....

SMU has played 2 games this year against quasi-tourney bubble teams on the road. Both games were supposedly in hostile environments, although in truth, neither was that hostile.

In both games, our Jr/Sr 'leadership' seems to play scared, tenative, intimidated, sloppy. Our Fr/So on the other hand, seem fearless.

Some of it is a talent issue that shows itself against better opposition. Whatever the reason, don't think it gets resolved until we have roster churn, most likely next season. Exception is Yanick, he needs to step up.

For the most part, this is a young team which is learning. Game after game. We played a top 30 team tonight in their barn. I expect as each game goes by, we will get better, more controlled and get better looks.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Agree.

Frazier comes in and instantly provides offense while as much as I like Russell, he cannot seem to get the ball to drop. Same with Williams. The exception is Cunningham who is pretty consistent.

Moreira had a bad game, but he had a bad game against TCU and improved after that. Might have been nerves and getting comfortable against better competition.

The combo of playing away against a tough defensive team after not playing much and playing against lightweights caused the sloppy play and jitters IMO. Can't be less that on point with any AAC opponent. Gonna be tough here on out.

Can we stop saying we were in a hostile environment? That crowd was not lively at all and had nothing to do with our play. It was dead silent half the game.
Moreira was disappointing and I agree with others we need to tighten up the rotation a bit.

That makes sense, I figured there was more beneath the surface. Not much other explanation. Hopefully Brown will make the change though for the benefit of the team
