Chants

Postby ECMustang » Sat Jan 04, 2014 7:11 pm

This has been mentioned in the game thread but figured the topic warranted its own thread.

It's all about starting simple and on the same page:

On defense: "Ooooooo"

Timeouts and TV timeouts: standard "SMU" chant

Intro chants require a little creativeness.

Insert a "seven nation army" chant a la Baltimore Ravens would work really well in Moody given how loud it easily gets in there.

Would love to see the student section sing "When the 'Stangs go marching in" slowly (similar to Tottenham Hotspur's "When the Spurs Go Marching In") towards the end of the 2nd half. Could be our Rock Chalk Jayhawk

Considering no one is on campus, I thought they showed up in solid force. Kudos student section.

Right idea - wrong words.

Start slow with " she'll be loaded with Peruna when she comes" then get faster and faster. Think about it!

Interestingly, someone the other day posted old words to Peruna that aren't the old familiar words that you and I both know. I think it's on a thread on the ATH section

Ooooooooo?

Is that pronounced like "oh" or like the o's in "boo"?

The cheerleaders, band and fans need to get on the same page...the fans start with a "oooo" or a soft "defense" chant but ultimate wait to see what the cheerleaders will lead with. There is a hesitation during transitions. It needs to be predictable.

I know our students would shun a pep rally, but if the mob, band cheerleaders would get together and do 4 simple things, maybe fun and original, we could get something going here. Nothing schmarmy - has to fit us. Maybe sarcastic and hopefully annoying to visitors and visiting players.

not a bad idea. Certainly wouldn't want stupid Aggie yell practice but getting on the same page would be good.

Isn't the job of cheerleaders to lead cheers and solve this problem?

They seem to look at the crowd, then one of them starts a cheer, the rest try to figure out which one he is doing, then they start...too many different cheers, too much hesitation IMO not their fault, just need to get it right
