This Win was Different

Postby Duke Blue Blood » Sun Jan 05, 2014 9:49 am

The Uconn win was different than other wins we have had (like TCU in Football) because we are the better team. You could see it from the start. Rather than hitting 20 3's and holding on to the win, we actually controlled game tempo, made good shots and dominated the boards.

Feels WAY better than some cinderella win. We deserved to win because we have a great coach and good players.

Yes it was. I think Coach Brown must have thought so as well. Very nice gesture from him in speaking directly to the fans over the PA after the game. Loved that.

Definitely.

Time will tell how big of a win it was, but even if UConn turns out to be a dud this year it was huge for this young team to step up and win a "big occasion" game after falling a bit short in the previous attempts at Arkansas and against Virginia.

The team is really growing up and the feeling yesterday was the first time it's been like that in the revenue sports in ages.

I would add to that the Cincinnati win over Memphis at their place bodes well for us, since we hung with them in Cincinnati. Makes Memphis feel winnable at very least in Dallas.

When you play D like us every game is winnable period. We are where we will expect to win in Dallas regardless of the team.

Cincy and SMU look to me like strong contenders for an NCAA bid. UCONN game would have been a 20 point plus win without all those blocks from their long armed 7 footer.

This

What an exciting day it was yesterday. The game turned my wife from a luke warm smu fan (she's from Wisconsin and has always been "well I guess I have to cheer for smu because my husband is a graduate") to a Pony Maniac! She's even talking about going to the games, when I have class that night, by herself!
