Re: Ticket - MoodyI think it is still unknown how good we are. I saw a UConn team that is going to have a hard time making the tourney because they have horrible bigs - and any time they meet a team with a perimeter D they are going to struggle.
we have improved over the course of the year, but we should keep our feet on the ground here. Lots of grinding work to be done - and if our guys start getting the big head we could come apart pretty easily.
Re: Ticket - MoodyYes we could Smew it and unfold rather quickly, but UConn has still beaten Maryland, BC, Indiana, #12 Florida - so they have plenty of talent. And the Cincy loss was a tough on the road game to a team that just beat Memphis at Memphis.
Re: Ticket - MoodyWe need a good showing at Louisville. A win (which I don't expect) would be massive.

Re: Ticket - MoodyI listened this morning as well and it was almost pulling teeth for George Dunham to say anything positive about us in his last comment. He's the UNT radio announcer and a big alum for them. Rich did a good job filling in the gaps for junior.
Per the last couple of posts.. and probably another topic.. am I the only one that's concerned about our shooting? Even in Garland, it seems like we're really "streaky" outside the paint with the exception of Nic Moore. Our bigs have been pretty solid lately, but it seems like the rest of the team is a bunch of "Jason Terrys" when it comes to shooting? On Saturday Frazier had a nice streak, Russell seemed to come out of his shell, Ben Moore and Sterling Brown had some nice contributions.. but if Nic is shutdown.. are we in trouble? What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
Re: Ticket - MoodyThats why I was so excited about Frazier's 5-0 run right when we needed it. He needs that boost of confidence too. We need Frazier to be able to create along with Nic.
Re: Ticket - MoodyWe are actually 6th in the Country in FG% at 50.2%-but that's because of great passing and patience-he get great shots-have all year.

Re: Ticket - Moody
Larry seems to be very careful with KF's minutes. I think that will chance if and when he produces on both ends. His shot is beautiful to behold. Mustangs Abu!
Re: Ticket - MoodyWe got a glimpse of Frazier, only going to get better but that was the first time all yr i was impressed with potential so far
Re: Ticket - Moodyto analyze our players you need to look past simply the jumpshooters-like we are 3rd in the Country in Defensive Shooting %. 36% for Cincy and 38% for UConn-that will win some tough games. I personally love the Deep bench and I thnk we generally are strong at the finish. I'm not concerned about playing any of the 10 or so guys getting playing time-they all contribute.

Re: Ticket - MoodyI understand our defensive play has been spectacular. I think my question is the same one Coach Brown might also have? Who is our 2 and 3 that will be most consistent in scoring when the paint isn't producing a la Cincinnati?
I also recognize we need defensive production from those players too. I get we're young.. just curious who will step up and fill the void versus some of the teams we face this year. Regardless, this is a fun team to watch and they'll only get better. What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I think he actually ran off 7 points. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Ticket - Moody
That is me concern as well. And let's hope he does not foul out early. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Ticket - Moody
In two words YES YES. Our offense in the last ten minutes of the first half was incredibly stagnant. If Larry doesn't want to rely on 3 pointers (anti-analytics guy), then we need to be able to consistently drive to the basket/draw fouls or feed it down low for easy buckets/draw fouls. I don't think Nick Russell or Manuel can get into the lane and finish/draw fouls on a consistent basis. What is very comforting is the fact that we are excellent defensively. We have two legit rim protectors in MK and YM. I believe I read somewhere we are #2 in Def EFG% "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Ticket - MoodyTeams with bigger and more athletic guards are going to give us trouble if they can get Nic in foul trouble.
