Re: Is USF a selloutwith bar codes and other technology it isn't that hard to track. I think if we have enough demand you just tell people we are going to start tracking it - and it is going to play a part in the "point" system. Spin it so that those that use their tickets instead of just buy them get extra "points" and those with more points get priority for seating. Miss more than ___% of the games and your seats are subject to reallocation. If they get pissed, well tough - come to the games.
Re: Is USF a sellout
They already give priority points for every season ticket that is used for a game.
Re: Is USF a selloutWhy don't we have Sewell buy the last few hundred and donate em to local vets or military families. Value of another announced sell out v. actual cost of eating tickets isn't close.
Re: Is USF a sellout
If I am Mr. Sewell I then ask you to buy a car and roll in an extra couple of thousand into the cost to cover some tickets. I would think you could pay them out over 7 years. We need to build the program, and we are, to a point where we do not have to ask for donor money to sell out a game. Just like I would hope we could get to the magic 20 wins this year without having to pay our way into a tournament to get there. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Is USF a selloutSewell may have been a poor example, as he's an individual donor (in my head I was thinking of his dealership business). But i would still contend that if we are indeed only a couple hundred away from a "sell-out," it wouldn't be a bad idea to reach out to a corporate sponsor and see if they're interested in purchasing a couple hundred tickets at a bulk, discounted rate. Yes, that's artificially creating "momentum," as we did all year when Doherty went 20-15, but I still believe it to be valuable, particularly since this is much more a program being built under Brown as opposed to a house of cards built on the likes of victory over the Houston Baptist's of the world.
Re: Is USF a selloutI hope we get a good crowd tonight. If there is a game that season ticket holders will no-show, this is it. The start time is too early (6), so there are major traffic issues to deal with if you live/work in Las Collinas or Plano. I'll be at the game, but will have to leave by 5 to make it in time.
Re: Is USF a sellout
That 6:00 start time is brutal. You can't expect the casual fan to leave work early to watch a dumpster fire opponent. Pony up!
Re: Is USF a sellout
TV $$$$$. 7:00 PM EST start. Just so there's enough time for the 9 PM EST start. Probably should get used to it, Louisville is going to be at 6 CST as well

[quote]That 6:00 start time is brutal. You can't expect the casual fan to leave work early to watch a dumpster fire opponent.[quote] Why all the bellyaching? You finally got a good team to support and then whine about a little inconvenience. Good grief, put on your big boy britches and deal with it. And... I leave work early to watch SMU - Not concerned if it is a "dumpster fire opponent" or not.... I wanna see the MUSTANGS.
Re: Is USF a sellout
USF vs. Lville. Slightly different draw. Pony up!
Re: Is USF a sellout
Berg, please re-read my post. "the casual fan...". With ~1,500 good/die-hard fans, the casual matters. Pony up!
Re: Is USF a selloutIt definitely isn't a sell out as my buddy just bought two tickets, but we knew that already. He and another buddy will be there +1 each.
I am interested to see the attendance tonight. Anecdotal, but these guys would be classified as casual fans, so if they are buying, then it is a good sign. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: Is USF a selloutMeh I am leaving work at 5pm. I'll support my team regardless of the time.
Re: Is USF a selloutDisclosure: I have 4 seats in the old "blue seat" section and it pisses me off when I see the same seats go unfilled game after game. I would love to pull those seats from the folks who never show but that isn't going to happen. Here is my solution: Announce a policy whereby any ticket for a club seat that is not scanned by the 10 minute mark of the first half will be made available for season ticket holders in the upper deck. Let it be a word of mouth thing - show up at the main entrance to the club seats after the 10 minute mark with your ticket and trade it for a new ticket to a seat in the club seats with entrance to the Champions area. If a club seat holder shows up after the 10 minute mark, the ticket window will get them in with the best seat available...........
Here is a suggestion to people who aren't going to use their seats, donate them to the Mustang Club to be sold/given to someone who wants them instead of trying to sell them.
Re: Is USF a sellout
My reference to casual fan isn't intended to be an insult. More of a reference to the process of becoming a more dedicated fan. Pony up!
